BNC Artevelde (1951) - 'Hou ende Trouw' Captured Belgian Gunboat, refitted with various German guns and returned into Belgian Service

+1 hope we see the Benelux navy soon

I hope so too, even if Smin said it’s not in the works yet…

This is an easy +1 from me, would be nice to eventually see the Benelux navies added to the game.

Sad thing is that because of the “one ship, one refit” rule, that Artevelde probably won’t be added in a Belgian configuration.

Sadly so indeed…

Almost certainly, the German version should be immediately rescinded and she should be given to her rightful tree… What is wrong with Gaijin this update…

Better yet, they should rescind the “One Ship, One Refit” rule. It’s legit one of the strangest and most unnecessary rules I’ve ever seen in a military vehicle game. And frankly its situations like this that really drive home its flaws.

How I’d love to see USS Mississippi in her weapons testing configuration… The only pre-Iowa battleship to ever mount a SAM.

I’m sort of fine with the outcome German WW2 Navy has a general lack of a surface fleet once you subtract the use of the captured ships.

True very much so its the reason why they stick with some Project or Class name for some of the Japanese Battle Ships as they became Carriers they likely planning to introduce Carriers and by not doing this we wont see some of them.

They likely want to avoid looking like World of Warships with a few to many of the same ship in different trees.

Honestly, I’d rather have WoWs-style refits as ship modules similar to how the TOG’s set up… Let me have every major refit of a ship.

Kind of on some but there are many ships where the final refit is the best and only usable one. Kongo is the best example as you would only gain a few extra cannons meant to fight ships.

Ditto! Wyoming in her AG-17 configuration would be cool too!

Honestly, I don’t think anyone is realistically arguing they shouldn’t get captured ships; it’s just that this particular one is the only ship Belgium could have in the Bluewater tech tree, so that makes it a tad different.

Like I said, though, I really do think they ought to scrap the rule and give the Belgians the ship as designed (so it’s unique), and the Germans can get their unique captured version.

That is a solution but who knows how long it will be before we see a Belgium sub tree in game so Gaijin can have time to think it over.

Tragic, but mostly true.

It’s honestly one of the saddest things that can happen to Belgian naval fans. I understand decisions like the Dutch K2 being in the german tree, because the K3 can still be added to Benelux later on, but for Belgium there’s literally no alternative besides this ship.

A very interesting new change was just announded that could possibly lead to the Artevelde being added into the game, even though it’s already through the Lorelei:

this change of approach of multiple refits will atleast prevent another Lorelei/Artevelde issue in the future.

But now there’s a clear way for the Artevelde to be added to the Belgian subtree, without the trouble of removing it from the German tree.
