im almost nostalgic for when the meta was F-16 with maverics. before the KH38 and when the pantsir was so absurdly OP compared to everything else that we thought that it would be the thing to kill top tier
Oh man the golden days. A time when top tier games can be so fun fighting for the win. Now it doesn’t matter if effort is put in when certain vehicles are point and click adventures. It gets so one sided so fast, it’s not fun on both the losing and winning side. Though I find it fun revisiting old br and realize its so fun where skill and effort matters more.
I dont bother going above 9.3 nowadays as i know that if im facing russia 80% of the time im going to lose.
Matches feel completely predetermined and not just from bad damage models kept bad to keep T-34s OP, it feels like everyone that isnt playing russia has their stuff held back and modelled so badly just to pump the devs nationalistic egos.
no clue how true that is but its the impression i get
Made me chuckle lol.
9.3 was saved with the 2s38, t80ud, and bmpt getting bumped up. Its the highest I go to as well since Japan has an amazing 9.3 lineup which can now do well with russia 10.3 spam gone.
This is a laughable take.
CAS problem are worse, at least I often solo bmpt with my tank but can’t do shit about jets launching missiles from planet mars.
yea thats a silver lining now that my 9.0 lineup got moved to 9.3 because of major nation skill issue
i play them myself too
Reject modernity, embrace tradition. Reject KH38 and Spice, embrace Mighty Mouse and S-5K rockets.
That’s why I said it in the first place.
another one
The BMPT’s biggest weakness is a player that takes the match semi-seriously or more.
Being cautious & watching angles makes you lethal against other MBTs, and it makes you invulnerable against far worse penning autocannons.
Gaijin cannot fix our playstyles, only we can.
The MBT meta is still as strong as ever.
A ridiculously armored BMP3 has appeared, and now we have to learn again.
The saving grace is that it’s 11.3 where it should be.
It should honestly be moved up to 11.7 so 10.7 lineups can only face 4 players with them per team.
(As its +1 br then, wheras currently there is no limit as its +0.7br for 10.7)
Aside, there really isnt anything to adapt to due to how bs the damage model is, which punishes you at random regardless of whether you made a mistake or not.
(And far more frequently than any other vehicle for that sake, as other vehicles can be disabled easily as a more consistent/safe option)
The punishment areas of T-series is known to me. I’ll still forget, and fail to aim correctly, but everything I learned prior to even T-72 coming to the game made me ready for the 54mm more protection flat ERA gives.
Don’t shoot tracks.
Don’t shoot horizontal armor.
Know where overlapping plates exist.
The last one can be difficult with metal ERA containers, as proven by M1A2 SEP2 with its ERA attached.
I hit an overlapping plate I didn’t know was there, and bounced due to my own lapse in research.
“Damage model so busted the only salvation is being 100 times better than the enemy team” ahh post.
Average Alvis post in nutshell.
120mm DM33 (L/44) cant pen through the era (w/tiles) at 300m flat side on (between tracks).
You cant snipe between the tiles like on BMPT-72 either.
Drivers hatch as weakspot is smaller than any other t-series mbt, so is the turret-ring.
Lower front plate is thicker than other T-series mbt’s and there is only a small area where you’re guaranteed to hit the ammo directly.
There is no breech to shoot for disabling its ability to fight back, the fake external belts arent always there (if they have been shot prior).
Only the hull-roof can be consistently overpressured but most mbts lack HE (HEAT/MP has insufficient HE-fragmentation pen to overpressure, HESH forgets about the whole HE part way too often).
FCS doesnt disable firing (xray info is lying, I can send clips later ig)
All fuel-tanks are external, amour around it doesnt spall (which is utter bs but whatever).
Upper sides are a black hole on BMPT.
The low residual penetration of anything that isnt a top-tier dart will result in barely any damage being done even if you do penetrate. (as apfsds spall-amount, penetration and damage iirc are dependant on residual penetration and rod diameter)
Reminder that most tanks at 10.3-10.7 dont have access to JM33/DM33 but 105mm DM63 or 120mm DM23 at best (or have even worse rods, like M774)
And then there are also not only MBT’s in this game but also IFVs which have essentially no chance of dealing with one.
The only times my VJTF managed to kill a BMPT was when i’d get a jump on one that was already busy de-constructing my friendlies in 1v2s or 1v3s, so lmao that’s so true.
or when spikes decide to work that one time in 100 tries
