BMPT is the designation for both the prototype we have in-game aswell as the production version.
The BMPT prototype predates that of BMPT72, BMPT72 is a later development (first brochures from uralvagonzavod that I have are from ±2012), which uses a different turret than the BMPT prototype aswell as a different chassis/hull.
The production version of BMPT utilizes the hull of the prototype BMPT (our ingame-variant essentially) and the upgraded turret that is also seen on the BMPT72.
BMPT (“Terminator 1”, old turret / 5 crew) → prototype/exported
BMPT-72 (aka. “Terminator 2”, old T72 hull + new turret / 3 crew) → export/retrofit for old T72s
BMPT model 2017 (Terminator 1 hull + Terminator 2 turret) → “updated” russian service variant
What I still don’t get is since the model 2017 is the new version seen in Ukraine, the BMPT-72 is export and the Terminator 1 is just a prototype. Which one did they use before model 2017. Online it says they used the 5-crew version but that is the prototype. Apperantly they didn’t use any BMPTs until the model 2017.
The whole naming thingy is driving me over the edge
I can see terminators taking the meta from the T90s in the future. It’s much easier to kill those MBTs. IF Gaijin doesn’t fix the model or nerf the terminators in any way. In which case GRB will just turn into autocannon and missiles vs MBTs.
