In the Chinese community, someone discovered that the HEAT charge of the ZBD86(315g) is only half of that of the BMP-1(735g), which is obviously abnormal. In fact, the HEAT charge of the BMP-1 is exactly the same as that of the HE, which obviously does not conform to the laws of physics.
After checking the information, I am sure BMP-1’s HEAT PG-9 should have 320~332g A-IX-1 charge, not 735g in game. 735g is OG-9 HE’s charge.
A-IX-1 and TNT have similar densities, but PG-9 is thinner and lighter(2.6kg with 3.7kg) than OG-9. They couldn’t possibly have contained the same weight of powder.
In a lot of information, the charge of PG-9 is marked as 0.320~0.332kg A-IX-1.
The HEAT rounds of 2A28(BMP-1’s main gun) is PG-15V(GRAU 7P3, Often informally referred to as PG-15), PG-9(GRAU 7V5) is the warhead of PG-15V, so the mass of explosives for PG-15V(or PG-15) actually is the mass of explosives for PG-9.
In “GICHD Explosive Ordnance Guide for Ukraine 2022 v18, Page 98”, the explosive fill of “PG-15(actually it is PG-15V)” is 0.320kg.
In “Мины-взрыватели-и-боеприпасы-РФ, Page 172”,the “explosive substance” of PG-9 grenade is 0.322kg.
In website of the Collective Awareness to Unexploded Ordnance (CAT-UXO), the description of the “PG-15(actually it is PG-15V)” has a A-IX-1 Shaped-Charge weighing 332g.
So the PG-9 HEAT in game should have 320~332g А-IX-I charge, it is definitely not the 735g now in game.
Unfortunately, I have submitted issues twice, but the Bug Reporting Manager did not seem to understand the problem initially - it seems that he did not know that PG-5 is the warhead of PG-15V. After the first issue was closed, I added detailed information, but 3 days have passed and the Bug Reporting Manager has not responded.
BMP-1 HEAT PG-9 powder charge quality error
BMP-1’s HEAT PG-9 should have 320~332g A-IX-1 charge, not 735g
This does not affect the penetration performance of the PG-9, only reduces the overpressure damage. HEAT efficient than same caliber HE is ridiculous.
