BM Oplot-T: Through the Jungles!

Wonder how they’re going to fit this tank into any other nation….

Tank?

It was designed in Ukraine though. The Ob. 478BK (first t-84) came to be after the soviet union fell.

Absolutely. There already a few tanks like this such as the M4A2 sherman… Never used by the US but use by the USSR.

The M4A2 was at least produced in the USA ;)

They can’t and they don’t need to. Having it only for Thailand is perfectly fine and the least controversial way to add it.

There was a time it could’ve gone into the Russian tree. The tank was in service what, 20 years before the conflict…

Ye, what are you expecting? It’s a Sherman.

So it’s not comparable to the T-84.

The M4A2 was designed and produced in the USA, so giving it to the US makes sense.

The T-84 was neither designed or produced in the USSR or Russia, so it has no place in that tech tree.

They could add the Ukrainian T-84 to Japan as an event vehicle, since that is the only tech tree containing a nation that uses it.

Or they could add an eastern european tree independent from the USSR tree.

I don’t see the link. Only Oplot event I can imagine is for the US, but that’d be hell.

wouldnt work.

Difference to like F-14 IRIAF is that Iran isnt a subtree nor techtree in game, so it goes to the manufacturer country, ie. the US.

However Thailand nor Japan are manufacturers of the Oplot.

Thailand is the only user besides Ukraine and Thailand is part of the Japanese tree.
That is the link.

That isn’t a link thats good enough. Thailand isn’t the original producer, unlike some other event vehicles we’ve had (Su-25BM). I doubt they’d give any other version of the T-84 to any nation but Ukraine- best they can do is Pakistan as they tested the vehicle and the US who also tested and owned the Oplot (but never used).

Designed in the USSR, though. so it can be dumped together with the T-80BVM to countinue it. Designed by the UKRSSR.

It wasn’t designed in the USSR.

The T-80U was designed in USSR, T-80UD is the Ukrainian version and the T-84 is derived from it (T-80UD). In that case, add the F-2 to the US as it is derived from the F-16 “Agile Falcon” designed in the US.

I believe their ethnicity, culture and language is different. Obviously similar as they have close proximity, but different.

The T-84 is a derivative of the T-80UD. The T-80UD is a Ukrainian T-80U. Whether you can consider the T-80UD as just Ukrainian is up for question, however if you don’t consider the Mitsubishi F-2 as American than you shouldn’t consider the T-84 to be Soviet.
