BK-27 ammunition on Eurofighter, Tornado & Alpha Jet

I don’t quite understand why the BK-27 on the EF has these weird ammo belts, while the Gripen carries the same gun but gets access to much more sensible ammo belts.

I doubt the Luftwaffe, RAF and AM would use Practice rounds in any live engagement…

If you aren’t familiar:
four out of five ammobelts on the Eurofighter, Tornado and Alpha Jet have a Practice Tracer shell first, which does almost no damage. All other shells aparently don’t provide a tracer.
The Gripens use a PELE shell to provide a tracer, which actually does damage.

the PT shells are basically useless (shooting the pilot in the head turns them yellow), while PELE acts more like a AP shell in game.

yeah is true, the saphei rounds and aphe rounds have weird 1.2m delay fuzes as well

This is a screenshot taken from a video of the BK-27 on a Eurofighter being unloaded.
I believe the yellow shells are high-explosives, with the back once are armour-piercing (maybe AP/FAPDS/PELE). I have seen some sources claiming the pink ring is means it contains a tracer… I haven’t been able to find actual good proof for this. I would expect there to be a NATO standard for exactly this.
