Bismarck's armour scheme might not be as OP as expected

Indeed but again I just fear for the competition.

H class was laid down it does meet the requirements

H39 does, it might be too much of a stretch to suggest the other H classes.

completely fine H39 is enough to compete with Iowa and yamato bismarck cant pen them that well but H39 can

H-39 =/= H-41+

The only pair that would be addable are H-39 and H-40 (sister to H-39), which would be bismarck downgrades (worse AA, worse armour, guns have marginally more pen with a worse reload).

roughly same armor better guns aa really doesnt matter
with 16 inch guns allowing you to pen iowa and yamato effectively
which give you good fire rate of 30 seconds which is quite fast 2 rounds per minute

heres bismarck for comparison

Bismarck-class
battleship
Displacement * 41,700 t (41,000 long tons) standard

The performance of the German 16-inch shell was very poor. During the test, it challenged the “British 14-inch armor” at 30 degrees and suffered severe damage at a speed of 111%.

Its doesn’t matter Gajin uses its own formula, which will be fine.

I believe the penetration would still be subpar though, so the Bismarcks RoF advantage may be more relevant.

rate of fire means nothing if you get one tapped thats why you need pen so you can one tap them first its only a 5 second increase which is really good for 16 inch gun

heres her pen chart from nav wepons
for her APC L4,4

Range Side Armor Deck Armor
0 yards (0 m) 31.7" (805 mm)

Thats actually true. You need to actually play Bismarck and shot an Iowa for the whole match duration without doing lethal damage. Then you’ll learn. Quick reload means indeed nothing when you simply can’t kill opponents from the same BR or one step above.

i play the scarn shes just bismarck at lower BR

bismarck
good armor
good speed
poor guns

scarnhorst
good armor
good speed
poor guns

Depends. Main armor belt is thinner, turtleback is almost same(both in thickness and shape), and bow armor is much better(even than Scharnhorst)

  • Why do you think the gun barrels wore out quickly? Initially, it was planned that the projectile speed would be 870 meters per second, and in this case, there was indeed increased wear. However, it was decided to reduce the speed to 830 meters per second. During the tests, the gun fired approximately 100 rounds and made an additional 182 rounds during the defense of Leningrad, and to our horror, nothing was worn out!

Although I may not be accurate about the number of shots, as I have read about it a long time ago, and it seems that this has already been mentioned.

i see. well i stand corrected. that means at least in muzzle velocity the fantasuz doesnt magically get better stats than all other ships in game. and barrel wear. which wouldnt matter anyhow cause barrel wear is (fortunately) not modelled in game and 40 m/s more muzzle velocity won’t change how opressive that ship already is.

i mean we can eyebleach ourselves here all we want, the countless of rb matches and naval ec matches that can last 3 hours where one team can and should just leave as soon as one enemy spawns that ship (as long as in your team no one is playing it, and if they do, ive rarely met fantasuz players that actually seemed willing to contest their own ship but farm stuff that cant fight back) turns naval for all (but maybe the iowa and the yamato but only at very long ranges) completely pointless. Guess we’ll just spend the next two years asking ourselves why thats necessary but whatever, ill just set my standards for leaving matches prematurely to almost 0 for naval, something i never did in war thunder in any gamemode

The barbette fires are still not fixed. Dared to play for a daily task. Lost my Bismark to a single hit, the fire countdown appeared for 2-3 seconds and then it just exploded. From 100% health. Sudden death, totally unfun.

Just in case someone wanted to know the current situation. Naval capital ship gameplay still super toxic and unplayable. Even reserve boats have more tankiness than BBs with that turret fire death mechanic.

I left the match, logged out of the game. Hoping for a fix.

(Seriously, no one is playing this nonsense. Had to wait 6 minutes for a match (Sunday evening prime time), just to detonate with the first salvo aimed at me. Who is programming this? Where is the fun supposed to be?)

The bismark shares the same issue as scharnhorst did shortly after release where glancing blows by HE cause ridiculous amounts of flooding. It’s a fat cow of a ship and in all honesty the gneisenau imo is better. The tradeoff of better mobility/narrower profile for 2 more guns with a low penetrating 15" shell compared to her peers isnt worth it. With gneisenau you get comparable armor especially when kiting, 6 6" guns per side, and 6 of the same hard hitting shells as the top tier ship. Germany should actually get the H39/41 as a cope imho because the bismark just is not competitive. Even in a straight 1v1 vs Roma/Vanguard I think she loses. The saving grace of German naval is the Gneisenau/Scharn/Eugen with a complement of good coastals and insane tactical bombers. It’s just not competive at all in top tier though. Only in EC not regular battles.

All ships are effected by this mechanism, not ONLY in German, I have seen many skillful players using Scharnhost/Gneusenau/Bismark win the first place in match. So, you own skill issue doesn’t mean this is a bug or it needs to be balanced.
