Bismarck's armour scheme might not be as OP as expected

I wouldn’t go as far as to say 7.3, since she still got highly accurate guns with a 23 second reload (shortest among all Battleships) and the armor is still significantly better than Mutsu’s, which will be 7.7.

I think 8.0 would make sense. In hindsight, even 7.7 could be too much by making it face 6.7s.

Bro, I think you severely and extremely overestimate Scharnhorst’s capabilities at the present time.

Yes, it used to be OP some time ago and it was implemented way too early without any proper counterparts…

But now, with all the new armor degradation, hull integrity, fire damage mechanics and 380-406-410mm-armed counterparts, it no longer is.

I must remind you that Scharnhorst uses 280mm guns with <600 mm pen and extremely low amount of explosive filler.

It doesn’t deserve to be at a BR where it would come across 850mm pen shells with 7 times as much explosive filler. It doesn’t deserve to face Iowas and Yamatos that could slice through it like a hot knife through butter while it would be unable to damage them at all with its Cruiser-sized guns.

I feel like the people claiming that it’s still OP even after the next update and that it should be 8.0 are just resented from the times back when it was OP. Kinda like how people nowadays are still resented about the Abrams tank and calling it OP just because it was indeed OP back in 2018-2019 even though the situation is completely different nowadays.

I found another reason why Bismarck’s armor is off on the Dev Server; there’s a huge gap on the armor!

Yes I know, but it was 2 years ago and bismark wasn’t needed

The armour is more or less the same, the 406’s are an improvement but not as much as you think. The reload is the same as contemporary guns at 2rpm, the shells themselves are good though at around 800mm or penetration.

I would put it at 7.7 for the time being, and reduce it down to 7.3 if it was too underpowered, it seems the community agree’s with me as outside of Smins comments which are highlighted nice and blue, its the 4th most liked comment in the BR feedback thread.

This needs fixing ASAP. May allow fragments or whole shells through which shouldn’t be able to.

It’s work in progress, the slope deck is pending to be completely reworked as the inclination angles are totally wrong throughout the citadel

I assume its correct for the mags though? Otherwise could we anticipate Bismarcks armour being a bit better.

I wouldn’t like to see it a Roman Candle as it is, but I would also not like a repeat of the Scharnhorst 1.5 years ago.

I know, but I still preferred to do a bug report as soon as possible to avoid situations that have taken place in the past.

For example, it has taken them well over an entire year to fix the holes across the Bayern-Class armor.

I would not like for that to happen to Bismarck.

No, the inclination angle is 5-12deg higher than in real life so it will get worse after correction

Oh. That’s more than a little unfortunate.

Well thanks for responding.

Oh boy, the worst ship of the update is going to be even worse than she is already? She really does belong at 7.3/7.7 at best then. Truly no reason to grind her at all.

I wonder how robbed people are gonna feel when they realize the 80$ premium they bought to grind out the german tree is better than the “top” ship of the german tree.

I think 7.3 is a bit too much of a stretch.

USS Alaska will be 7.3. I’m pretty certain Bismarck will still be better than USS Alaska…

But I could definitely make a case for 8.0, or even 7.7 at most, along with Mutsu, etc.

I believe her RoF will make her potent enough against Hood to be balanced, she will also posses better secondaries and better guns. That’s my personal opinion we will have to see in practise.

Though I’d suggest Hood may be better in a straight fight due to her module layout. 7.7 may prove to be all thats necessary.

Also remember Stras is at 7.3. You might think Bismarck is bad but Stras is worse.

I’d start at 8.0 and then if needbe reduce the BR to 7.7, no lower than that though. Same approach as Scharn but with 7.7 as her starting point.

We could do with H-39, H-41 may also be acceptable so long as its historically implemented, would also open doors to Littorio UP.41 and Alsace (though Alsace is much trickier in that regard).

Yep just don’t grind it. Let Soyuz, Iowa and Yamato duke it out themselves. I’d recommend this to all 38cm BB, which are about to be thrown into the upcoming super BB meta. One shouldn’t support this way off balancing. The three super BBs shouldn’t have been part of this update. Would have been better to let the 38cm BBs some breathing space and bring the super ones one or two patches later.

I completely agree with you here. What would’ve been better is to add Vanguard, Roma, Richelieu, Bismarck as they have done, and then for the other nations, add North Carolina perhaps South Dakota maybe both for the US with worse guns than Iowa and slightly worse protection and Nagato 1945 for Japan for AA good reload mid belt armour but strong barrettes . Nagato may have handily still been the best of the bunch anyway. Soviets would just have to miss out here but enjoy the decompression on their already more perfectly good tree until a later point where it would be possible to add Iowa, Yamato, Sovetsky, H39/41(41 is fully paper tho), Littorio UP.41(again paper), Alsace(not even finished but just duplicate Richelieu underneath) and Lion and G3.

Well, at least Roma has better chance than Vanguard and Bismarck as it can get better armour, better penetration and better reload.

Those three… won’t change much things imo. They all using existing guns in game or equivalent of it. Better would be French 45 cm gun battleship design(though this will be very old design) and N3(Or something with nine 18’’ gun)

Also, do note that Yamato won’t fit into monster line along with Soyuz and Iowa. It is most easy to beat among those three.

I somehow expected that. Yamato vs. Soyuz is pretty onesided in favor of Soyuz.
