Bismarck's armour scheme might not be as OP as expected

Well, with any luck itll get dropped in BR then, cuz all it had was its armor. Looks like german naval is a dead tree from now on

Should check out the FaceHard outputs Nathan ran and put on the website.

Max range difference is a lot less than you’d expect despite the caliber differences and somehow we got even more pen out of those 16" shells than the Japanese did with 18.1" shells. When you get into naval calibers sectional density starts to matter a hell of a lot more than it does with relatively small tank shells.

You mean that plan that would have never been able to be finished because they couldnt manufacture the armor, or the guns that were never put on the ship and basically everything else more than a rough framework of the ships hull? How can you nerf a never existing ship that would never have been finished?

If i print the craziest design imaginable in a cad program, someone decides to lay down the hull for 5% if it then makes it into the game and has 520 mm guns and not my fantasy 600mm it is nerfed? whut? Should be easily outperforming the yamato and the iowa that sailed around for almost 20 years. Easily visible on my fantasy design plans that would have definitely made it into a completed ship. even if i decide to plan and build the ship lets say in chad. who cares they got no ship engineers or docks or resources. look, my plans

They have alternative plan at time before war, and problem solved during wartime as they assure they can make armor at the time of alternative plan of Project 24

Caracciolo? You do note that your word is killing future Lion class and H Klasse, which would be the only worthy opponenet to Yamato.

At least USSR has ship engineers, docks, and helps from USA/GER/ITA/GB. Not you. Stop lunatic assumption. Just admit ‘I hate Soviet!’

And Germany/GB/JPN/ITA/FRA doesn’t exist? That will kill naval even more than USSR has ‘fantasy’ ship and others also getting it.

H-39 isnt gonna be a competitor to anything if the current bismarks armor is anything to go by. From what I can tell, H-39 is just 8 mid/bad 16" guns on a worse hull than the Bismark

One ship is going to be the best in any way and it would be nice if it was a real ship by a country with a real navy.

The difference is that Caracciolo and H Klasse could have been made by their respective countries which both had experience in building huge ships, the biggest ship the Soviets built before the Soyuz was an 8.000 ton cruiser and they were already struggling with that

We’ll have to see at her turtleback angle, especially on turrets, as it is Bismack’s problem of protection right now.
For 16’’ guns, I don’t think it will be super bad, as it has high velocity.

Not actually. And no reason to divide them with Soyuz when they are just all laid down ships.
Again, you just want Soviet to weak then making reasons.

multiple people here stated they never want the soyuz or the russian ships to be artificially weaker than all opposition. Everyone just said it would be nice if it was balanced and equal to the other ships that are going to be introduced. Its you that is jumping on the bandwagon of “you want it to be weaker.” no one here ever said that. i can also vastly recall me stating that it’s good that russia also gets a top tier ship in the update?

But you could explain why the soyuz’s shells from guns that apparently werent really usable after the tests due to wearing down should have twice the he filler and still be able to be fired with higher velocity than the iowa’s guns if that made them wear down too much during testing? While having better armor than most other ships that are going to be introduced? because they had plans to be able to assure they can make the armor? Thats a bit ridicolous cmon. You are aware how these “plans” were made in a lot of countires in war time? Germany also had “plans” at that time. One was a 2000 ton tank. laughable

173 rounds during test and after test 81 rounds more fire is ‘weren’t really usable?’ that’s strange. Soviet’s makes their goals of barrel life as 300 rounds, so it quite fits the designed life span, especially considering that 17 rounds out of all fired shell were fired with extra charges to see if it is possible to fire with 870 m/s.

Oh they are.

Ahaha, in soviet language that means that shell exploded inside the barrel.
Damn.

that’s why I feel 8.3 is too high of BR for the Bismarck 8.0 BR will be good and if still bad they could change it to 7.7 BR and if gajin add tirpitz same story 8.0 or 7.7 it has more AA and have Torpedo Tubes!

Also, I feel KMS Gneisenau will be 2x better than the Bismarck better armor and same guns at 7.7

I hope Gajin Add H-39 Battleship as event ship that ship could face 8.7 and 8.3 battle ships with no issue because it had a thicker side belt (300 mm) and main armored deck compared to the Bismarck and 8 x 16-inch guns, while the Bismarck had 8 x 15-inch guns.
the gun upgrades and extra armor will make it have no issue facing Yamato and other battle ships correct me please if am wrong!

In fact, the performance of the mk8mod6 is now seriously underestimated. In the test, the mk8mod6 can complete the penetration at a speed of 90.5% of the formula. And the formula currently used by GAIJIN is unfair to super-heavy armor-piercing projectiles at larger angles.

Bismarck is just added too late. It would have been the poster boy of an content update a year ago. Among current additions its just 2 generations behind. Its armor currently stops nothing, not at range and not angled. The firepower is the weakest as well. 38cm BBs /BCs were added years ago for other nations, so one might ask why the Ger one is gonna be released now, with all these absolute top of the line vessels. Which all overshadow her core stats.

Similar to German Phantoms. As they finally were introduced more than a year too late (all others already had their Phantoms), it met enemy jets which were far more advanced.

Bismark will need a much lower BR with these poor stats. Its an addition of the past. While the H39 or J39 would have been the ones which should have introduced with the upcoming patch. Gajin dislikes certain nations, otherwise this is hard to explain. The only way to fix this failed addition date is to get her out of reach of the top dog BBs, its BR needs to be reduced dramatically. Otherwise you simply explode with the first spawn to spawn shots few secs after match start.

Btw. Good to know that Russia is ofc the strongest Naval nation with armor / guns stats from outer space. Ignoring all reports of insanely high barrel wear which indicate that these shots were impractical for real duty. Likely too many charges to impress Stalin with a few crazy test shots. Just check ingame shell/gun stats. How is it even remotely realistic. Also the insane HE filler?!? It looks iffy? Soyuz’ armor? They couldn’t make the neccessary armor plates irl, but boom its ingame. Cause all planned?^^ Neither knowhow, nor the industrial capacity was actually there. All the old Soviet Union actually managed to built was a mediocore cruiser, nothing else.

I guess Germany will need to wait for H-39.

From what I can see, the armor isn’t really much better, but at least it would have good 406s with the same reload advantage.

Since Gaijin has implemented Soyuz, I hope they won’t have any issue with H-39!

From what I’ve seen on the Dev Server, Bismarck’s armor is… quite subpar indeed. Very easy to ammorack. It’s fine against 305s, 356s and earlier 381s, but 406s, 410s, 460s and even some of the later 381s slice right through it.

I think it could even be 8.0 or even 7.7. It’s not much better than Mutsu.

Thats what I thought. A typical example for a German ‘too late’ addition. Why wasn’t it added with these ships, a long time ago? Someone must dislike Ger. Otherwise I cant explain this reasoning. Hood, Nelson, Mutsu etc… All there since years. Also Bismarck AA won’t be able to deal with supposed jet attacks. Its really weak, too.

Why? At least its BR should be -1 of the Soyuz and Iowa. Its not playing in their league.

Again… failing completely to accept that until basically the beginning of this year. Scharnhorst was so unbelievably OP that top tier basically was “Which ever team has the most Scharnhorsts, wins”

So… No… Germany didnt need something stronger than Scharnhorst 2 years ago

It could be argued that Yamato, Vanguard, Iowa, etc should all have been added 2 years ago to counter Scharnhorst. Its only the relatively new fire propergation mechanics that have been the Scharnhorsts achilles heel and if that goes away. It needs to go up to 8.0

Scharn and Gneis are underwhelming ships. One is under-gunned with just cruiser sized guns , detonates as soon as a shot hits a turret or its barbette. Gneis has better guns, but suffers the same sudden death mechanic.

You and others seemingly convinced Gajin to do that to her. Congratulations to your 1282194203723094620346 posts and claims. Its finally done. Enjoy yourself detonating Scharnhorsts left and right with no effort. Thats obviously what you wanted from the beginning. Exactly that happens that much that I stopped playing Scharn. Even Bayern is better now, since it doesn’t have this kill mechanic coded.

The one that makes it explode because fire spreads down its ammo elevators and you cant extinguish fast enough so it spreads to the magazines? I mean while its kind of strange that its relatively easy to take out a scharnhorst like this now.
Is that not what happened to every single US ship for 2 or 3 years now while the scharnhorst was nearly invincible? Hit at the waterline under the turret= autokill??? The snail apparently hates something new every 2 months man. but sometimes it also loves the german navy more than anything for 3 years.
To me this feels more like they simply havent figured out how to implement damage dealt to big ships when they dont want to put in a healthbar. Interesting that theyre trying to figure it out now after how many years of naval war thunder but whatever. Im not exactly surprised. I think they should try increasing the shrapnel of he shells and make it ignore armor. JUST KIDDING NEVER DO THAT AGAIN
Or implement armor degradation so continous hits to the hull of lets say an amagi by tiny destroyer shells at one point will turn 3 of 8 or whatever random number hull compartments black (however thats happening to the hull of an angled batlleship) and you “lose sinking protection” and start sinking from 100 mm he hits. That would also be awesome…oh wait.

At this point actually just introduce health bars.
