Bismarck: The Iron Chancellor

The reason I plat Naval AB instead of RB is because aiming is really weird. After a short while when ships close in, the range doesnt update, and I have to pan my camera increasingly downward to match the range my rangefinder tells me. Often to the point where I only see ocean and not the enemy ship. That’s just annoying.

Also in arcade, the new aiming is just a bit boring, the old one was more engaging

Change scroll wheel to range adjustment.

Not really possible, as I’m on Xbox and therefore use a controller

woof. Those numbers aren’t far from each other at all. Look at Air. They’re practically the same statistically. Not nearly as damning as one might think This graph says: 50% of the community plays Arcade, 50% plays realistic.

That’s cool to know. Thanks

Still Bismarck took considerable flooding and oil leak which never had chance to be repaired. This forced Luetjens to abandon the mission, which is what she sailed for.

Also it is utterly laughable to say Bismarck "trashed POW“ as POW punched Bismarck harder than the latter did. Bismarck took significant flooding which cause her to list and trim after the battle whereas POW didn’t take any flooding and none of her combat crucial modules were penetrated. The hit on POW’s bridge caused a lot of confusions but the ship’s overall combat ability was more handicapped by herself rather than Bismarck’s gunfire as POW’s quadruple turrets encountered severe jamming issues until there were only 2 or 3 guns still operational before POW disengaged. Many people seem to forgot the fact that POW stayed contact with Bismarck after the battle of Denmark and later even exchanged gunfire with Bismarck again at extreme ranges for a few times with either side scoring no hits. Surely this can be done by a ship already “trashed”.

A very worth reading material, memories from Bismarck’s survivors of their escape from the sinking ship:
International Naval Research Organization Articles - Bismarck’s Final Battle - NavWeaps

It was a horror to read. Anyone who thinks Bismarck was proudly and undisturbedly shrugging off gunfire and only sunk from her crew’s own scuttling action to prevent capture, is an absolute act of cope and ignorance.

Found a better chart that lists the numbers for naval.

Spoiler

Actually didnt know but appearently in naval, arcade doesnt have the terrible less rp/sl modifiers compared to realistic that ground and air have so I might give it a try.

People also don’t seem to understand that the reason she took awhile to sink was that the British were closed in tight and basically shooting flat-on into superstructure, turrets, and the belt armour. They weren’t making many below-waterline hits, which meant a very slow sinking. It wasn’t that the Bismarck was special and super, it was purely just the trajectories of the shell fire.

Yup, another reason people played arcade. I say played, because as one can see, there has been a major drop off, and barring the small uptick from new update, it will continue to decline steadily this coming year.

Kirishima, which was a much more lightly protected and smaller battleship than Bismarck, took 4 hours to sink after getting brutally blown by the much more powerful 16" Mk 6 at point blank. This is the nature of a wrecked ship with flooded magazine - they just wouldn’t sink quickly under gunfire. Bismarck for sure would have not sunk this rapidly without her crew scuttled the ship, but believing British battleships were unable to sink her can be nothing but idiocy.

Yes because the Germans were aiming for the forward magazine of HMS Hood…Not a lucky shot at all. No difference from the Swordfish run on Bismark.
And instead of withdrawing they hung around and the inevitable happened. Even if Bismark made it back to France she wouldnt have dared risk putting to sea again and thats why the Tirpitz spent the whole war hiding in the Norwegian Fjord. Bismarkls fate would have been similar

Bismark became another German wunderwaffe destroyed by the allied powers.

The skill is still there. just because you aim at a certain point, doesn´t mean all shots land there. There is still some inaccuracy of teh gun and your movement direction in context of the target also effects there ballistic curve.

Though now its less aiming and more where you aim. I generally win because i aim for specific parts of the ship or know when someone moves to irratic to do so. Using there own movement to spread my hits over the ship, by simply keeping the aim centered.

There is still alot of detail to it. But with the old system it was hard to care about those detail, because getting the shots on the enemy in the first place was already difficult enough.

I really hope gaijin simplefies and streamlines the rest of arcade the same way.

There is not, and your posts are either the height of trolling or the height of simplification of games to point and click mobile styles.

after seeing the dev server update the armor looks really really bad for its BR
is the armor still subject to change ?

Not majorly. Guess what, a WW1 distributed armour scheme will always stay a WW1 distributed armour scheme, and will always be inferior to an all or nothing scheme, no matter how much hype it gets

There are several mistakes to be corrected, such as the inclination of the slope deck. Now it is mostly 70deg whilst irl it was 67deg max (not 68deg from most public sources) only around the boiler rooms and 57-62deg for most of the citadel.

So its armour is likely getting nerfs than buffs

Ironically, this means that Gneisenau might be the most problematic because of her retaining Scharnhorsts armor scheme.

Not really, in dev server Gneisenau explodes within 2 sec after ammo lift is on fire for >90% of the time, even much easier to kill than Scharnhorst in live server

Thx for telling me. Ammo elevator detonations are already making Scharn hardly playable. I was considering to even buy the Gneis. But why, if its the same elevator mechanic (where are the blast doors^^ Its not an open shaft)… Also for what? Bismarck hardly appears to be a worthy addition. There’s no reason to quickly unlock her, just to be DOA.
