Beware of fictional Hungarian tank designs presented as real ones

TL;DR few years ago some WoT player tried to put up his own Hungarian tank blueprints, that he fabricated, as historical ones, as well as lying about testing tanks that never even existed. The reddit post from archive visitor, which went on to debunk those myths (either personally or with help from other Hungarian historians), mentions that those fictional designs are already spread in the Internet. People like me were asked to share this for mutual awareness and not use those designs by accident

+1 As a Hungarian myself, I want only our historical vehicles to be added to the game. The only tank I want to see added that was not assembled together fully is the 44M Tas as it’s said to have had all its parts tested and almost completed before a factory bombing. That’s the only one I’d argue that it fits the criterias.

I’m going to separate my 4 points out as someone flagged my reply to get it removed, though I don’t see where their issue lies.

  1. Relevance?? What do WoT blueprints have to do with War Thunder suggestions, you do realise suggestions have to go through moderation to check their eligibility, so this post is completely pointless.
  1. Just out of curiosity I looked into it and it reads like a wannabe detective’s rant, more like he strongly feels like the drawings are fake and really wants them to be, instead of any actual proof that they definitely are forgeries. So I checked out the guy who posted, and surprise, he’s from Romania and is the creator of a proposal for a Romanian tech tree for WoT… he then proceeded to spend the rest of the article trashing on someone’s Hungarian tech tree proposal for WoT and concluding that Hungary can’t/shouldn’t be added to WoT while promoting his own Romanian tech tree proposal… either he’s motivated out of extreme competition or anti-Hungarian sentiment, either way Romanian tech seems to be his niche/obsession, so I’m not even sure how he would know so much (or care) about obscure Hungarian blueprints. Point is, his post seems more biased/hate-driven on second look and doesn’t seem to actually be conclusive, more just nitpicking mistakes in drawings by different people and grammar, yet he’s acting like it’s some breakthrough. He doesn’t provide any actual confirmation that anything is fake, e.g. someone admitting that they faked something. It’s all speculative.
  • Who are you referring to? The guy who made the Hungarian WoT tech tree proposal, or someone else?
  • By blueprints, do you mean actual blueprints or an illustrative sketch in a book?
  • Has this person admitted to fabricating blueprints, or is this still just speculation?
  • Where was the lying about testing tanks that never existed? Which tanks?

Did the WoT Romanian tech tree proposal guy who made the Reddit post you linked ask you to make this post? Also, no one is going to “use those designs by accident” on a moderated forum for a game that doesn’t allow blueprint tanks.

You can never hate reddit enough

Usually this fake stuff is people pretending that a German Wunderwaffe was real and in use such as this well known photoshop of a panther D to be a F model. Good job catching a fake

Yeah while researching hungarian tanks, just stay away from WoT sources. The community always wanted to see their tanks represented in game, but it was never been possible, as wot required a full tier 1 -10 line-up vehichles. Now the thing is, the last real design, the Tas could be only a tier 7 best case. This lead to the situation. And of course there is the TD line, which includes well known fakes, like the Tas TD variant, and it tries to rebrand british blueprints as hungarian. And don’t get me started on the wheeled vehichle branch, which only purpose is basically is to bring into the game the Csaba with a fake gun.

That said, don’t get too mad at them, let them cope in peace.
