Better AA for Germany. (9k33 Osa)

Italy could get the Bulgarian 9K33M2 since the leak says it’s the AK.

Nah, we are getting Romanian one, don’t know about AK or AKM, maybe it’s just mixed up since it’s also mentioned few times.

How exactly do you know it’ll be the Romanian one? also Romania doesn’t use the AK, only the AKM, iirc they only started receiving theirs in the 80s.

Link I posted, comment from the dataminer who leaked stuff through riddles.

Idk, Chinese guy has been reliable too, we’ll see.

The AK and AKM were both listed twice on the leak list though. Maybe both get the AK with the AKM being a researchanbe modification, just like the 2S6M1 is a modification for the 2S6 iirc.

We are getting it, but they put the wrong missile stats

Wait so they are not 10.30km? 👀

What’s wrong with them?

15km irl

The missile could theoretically reach 15km in a straight line, but the launcher can’t track and guide it beyond around 10km.

why not?
also it being mouse guided is wrong. irl its RFCLOS

The launcher tracks the missile locations with 2 small narrow beam (~0.6°) radars, which can’t keep track of it forever as they get further away.

yes but why only 10km missile tracking range?
why not upto its search range of (what i assume) is 20km?
using two radars naturally increases range due to an effect i cannot remember but astronomy often uses this to track celestial bodies at far away distances

I was too ambiguous on that, my bad. It uses 1 radar per missile, but it has 2 radars so it can control 2 missiles at the same time.

Its just the practical limit for tracking the small missiles. Even at 10km, there’s probably already precision loss.

huh, does that mean multi target engagements as well?

The guidance cuts off at 10km

Edit: somebody already said it above.

Both are guided to the same target.

There’s one engagement radar to track the enemy plane, and the missiles apparently use a modified CLOS guidance to keep it above the line of sight until it converges on the target.

edit - AFAIK from memory it can guide 2 missiles at the same time

edit2 - with the modified CLOS guidance, there’s also less chance of crossing the 2 missile tracking radar beams and messing up the guidance. But I would say you wouldn’t be able to launch them both too quickly when they’re still in the wide beam capture mode. Unless there’s a system for the wide beam to ignore the 1st missile signal.
