So, i am looking to buy a russian top tier tank, but im wondering which one will be the best choice assuming im rank 6 US player in ground RB.
Don’t. USSR is in a really rough spot right now on top tier. Their tanks stand little fighting chance against spall-linerPards. To summarize: Turms-T is an okay tank, it’s not very good against anything higher than itself in BR…you get uptiered into 11.3 all the time so you have almost no fighting chance. The T-80UD is the same story, but it’s engine can be literally heard across the map, so it’s an easy target. 2S38 is overhyped and isn’t very good, it’s damage on the APFSDS is extremely inconsistent and often the enemy tank has a chance to shoot back if the damage screws you over.
As for T-80U-E1…just don’t. It’s not fun in the slightest to play that against spall liner tanks. It has a bad round, okay mobility and laughable armor for it’s BR.
Overall, just avoid the USSR tech tree for now…atleast until they get the T-14 Armata or T-15 Barbaris.

If you compare with everything else, is almost nothing. 2 long range CAS aircraft, around 4 short range CAS, 2 Jet fighters with properly CAS capabilities if I’m not wrong. It’s pretty weak.
T-80BVM and T-90M has nothing else to give, it’s a improvement of the bad. The only vehicle worth to grind is the T-90M despite inferior mobility compared to the T-80BVM can still sustain badly placed shots,
And in a case of someone shot rightfully, it’s death sentence, the crew placement design so close to each other make most of the first shots to the driver’s hatch or the lower glacis the only needed to destroy the vehicle either from crew knocking out or ammo detonation,
And nowadays CAS is so overpowered not even Pantisir-S1 can handle it, despite people saying it can, it cannot, I’ve tried and just give up playing top tier, I’m limited to 9.7 and in rare moments 10.3 but nothing else.
@Comrad_Vlad I highly suggest you waiting for the next update, maybe the BMD-4M is a good option for you depending on your play style, although it’s a light tank and as a recent premium sales won’t be applied at the moment, surely the superior mobility and firepower are some good points, but if you want something else, consider T-80UD along with 2S38 to keep the eyes in the sky and help the team against aircraft threats,
But, as @ArrowViper1 mentioned, USSR is not a good option to grind, you’ll have access to only 3 capable MBTs, counting with the T-72B3 which has a inferior but decent armor compared to the T-80BVM and uses the same round. Despite all that saying that USSR is broken, has bias and stuff, it’s nothing else but fallacy. I’ve grinded the entirety of USSR and I only recommend 9.7 for a fun moment with decent vehicles and unique machines to play, above that is repeating of the good turning into bad.
If you want a suggestion to play USSR, at 9.7 you’ll find T-64B with the best firepower in its BR, 9P157-2 Khrizantema-S with 2 good missiles, good in ambush positions where you can quickly engage two targets or at long distances, 2S25 Sprut-SD is a good tank destroyer with good mobility and equally good firepower to the T-64B, ZSU-23-4M4 ‘Shilka’ equipped with the 9M39 ‘Igla’ MANPAD which makes the vehicle good at medium ranges with the missiles and still very useful at short range with the fast firing cannons. If you want air, consider YaK-38M for air-to-air engagements and the Su-7B for air-to-ground boom-n-zoom attacks.

I said compare with everything else. It’s nothing, using the best example, USA has jet fighters with comparable CAS capability to a Russian strike aircraft.
Just because it states something in paper doesn’t means it will be just like that in practice. Pantisir-S1 is not enough against aircraft, can you understand that? There’s no bias, is just CAS is way too overpowered nowadays, and with the “Storm Warning” update, they’ll be even worse.

Leopard 2A7 is the most diverse MBT with one of the best armor values and capabilities in-game; “T-90M is not far behind”, in fact is not, I believe is the third to fifth best armored vehicle in-game in high tier and it doesn’t means it’s good. As I mentioned earlier, it’s the only top tier USSR vehicle I suggest to grind, doesn’t means is peak Strv 122B+ or Leopard 2A7V.

T-72AV TURMS -T and T-80UD, you need two of them, you cant grind with one tank.
Priority TURMS-T, just get ready with patience and not rushing first, but more tactical play.
Also playstyle is sooooo diffrent than USA, since USSR tanks have like 5kmph reverse speed LOL
Imo t90 is second to leo 2a7 and t80bvm is leo 2a6 level
I say pantsir is op not from the peper a good pantsir will destroy everything and also the us which has very good cas is still not good as russia
Us best ammounition against tanks are maveriks that are slow and ez to intercept and with only 10km range while russia has the kh missiles that twice as fast if not more and 20km range so u can shoot beyond every spaa range if thats not op idk what is

What nation would you recommend instead of the USSR?
Germany or Sweden. Alternatively you could play China for a good variety of US/USSR vehicles.
USSR is complete garbage to play right now, just had few battles to confirm what i already know.
