Hello, I am essentially new to air battles, and I’m looking at purchasing a premium British fighter plane between Rank III-IV to help grind the tree, but I’m not sure which plane is the best for me to buy, so I am asking the community which one would be the best to buy.
I have all on the left side of your screenshot bar the Hornet, Mustang 1A is my favourite. It’s technically the same as the American one, I just find it easier to fly. MB. 5 is fun but takes getting used to. Hellcat is great for GRB so if you wanted a mutlirole go for that, Thunderbolt is my least used out of all of them, I like it but if you want ground attack go for the Hellcat, if you want air to air, go for the Mustang. Its a fun one but there are better.
While I dont have the right side I can give you some help there, Wyvern is a great aircraft. Very solid but not particularly enjoyable to play, I am buying the Spitfire Mk XIVc next GE sales, but it plays kind of like a faster Hurricane more than a Spitfire. Benefit to the Rank IVs is that you can research jets. Dont bother with the Hornet. If you want my opinion I would go for the Mustang Mk 1A or the Spitfire Mk XIVc. But obviously wait for the sales
Hellcat was one of the first planes I used in ARB when I moved over from arcade, it’s a fairly forgiving “jack of all trades, master of none” that will force you to actually develop skills rather than relying on the airframe like you would in a spitfire and it’s at a decent BR for starting out and learning, the 5.7/6.0s will not only see more experienced players but early jets too.
of course as a rank 3 you can grind less of the tree with it.
The Hornet is tricky to use against single engine fighters and not many people spawn bombers so it’s probable not a great choice.
Wyven is a good ground pounder with the ability to also pick off other attackers/ bombers and distracted fighters, but it’s fairly dull to play and won’t really build your skills.
I would not recommend buying of the market, that stuff is usually very overpriced for what it is, however it’s your money.
I’ve aced that spit through play, I personally don’t really notice the extra weight, certainly not as much as I notice the extra horsepower, and prefer it over the merlin spits, it’s still more than agile enough to out turn anything but a Zero and the extra power really catches people off guard, once they realize they are not winning the turn fight and they try to disengage the Griffon lets you out accelerate them and catch them before they get the speed up to run.
But that is purely a matter of personal preference, I have spoken to others that swear by the lighter MK IXc.
I only have two aircraft here so I can’t comment much.
As people have said the Hellcat is great for ground (it also descent in costal naval) and have been good to me for that. I’ve destroyed Tigers in it so it pretty up tierable.
The Wyvern is a great plane for all modes, but takes a bit to get used to. It’s nearly grinded out more then a few event stars singlehandedly.
I cant wait to get it. Prettiest spit in the game IMO
The other funny thing is the Mustang Mk 1A is really good for GRB too. Amazing FM with Hispanos. You can top down Tigers
