BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

remove gunpods from both, a loaded GAU-12 pod weighs 1200+lb

If this was the case then it would gain speed at that G loading. You are probably misinterpreting the chart or not providing the full context.

15,300 vs 13,200 roughly

This plus what I just showed is everything that document has on it.

“Pilot must not maneuver beyond the lateral oscillation point”

We don’t know your drag values and what have you either.

At 350-400 knots the harrier SEP is 24,000 ft/min and that’s a given value at sea level

At that time they were not supposed to go beyond 15 degrees AOA

Wait up ik what you did

You might have used 14 degrees AOA for the weight of 16,000 lbs 17,211

6.2G vs about 6G for the same AOA

An additional 0.2G would not matter. Document doesn’t specify what ADD is measuring either.

but your document from earlier said 13850 was the dry weight. and 15300 still seems awfully high for an aircraft that made heavy use of composites to reduce weight

Airstream direction detector

It’s measuring AOA on the probe

That’s the dry weight with pylons and drop tanks mate I don’t know how much more I need to say that

The radar in the sea harrier weighs just 86 kg, less then 200 pounds

And what is the datum of the prove vs the chord line of the wing?

it does not say that. point out exactly where it says that, basic English says the dry weight is being added to the other weights.

weighs like 145kg

Blue fox doesn’t but I don’t have a 100% figure on vixen

One sec I’ll pull out the ODM

thats my bad, i thought we were talking about the FA 2. what i could find for blue vixen says 145kg

Regardless the math says that your interpretation of the document is implausible.

Right…

15 degrees was literally the highest allowed

Use that if you must for 400 knots

The wing is actually slightly canted down relative the the aircraft datum

And the wing has a slight tip twist at further sections of the span

It’s still going to be in that 1 ton ballpark lighter in any case

And I was comparing it to the NA the harrier 2 with no radar…

i dont think the weight difference ends up being much because the NA has the whole FLIR setup which does add to its weight while B+ pretty much just swaps it for a radar

The B+ has the flir lol

It’s in the same relative place above the radar

i mean the one on the nose
