Easy, its a good platform for what it was built for, an attack aircraft that can be based on improvised runways and pads in the event of a cold war gone hot where forward bases would be harder to operate from due to enemy fires.
In the air to air role it had some niches, but failed to deliver on either superiority or dominance required for NATO air forces. Largely in the air defence role it was only advantaged against Tornado F.3 when there was a missile disparity (Skyflash Vs AMRAAM). Once we had CSP/AOP/FSP Tornado was able to fill the AD role better, longer endurance, more missiles, two seater so reduced workload for the pilot etc etc etc
I just want it to be as correct as can be in game. Sometimes that comes with compromise as the game isn’t a 1:1 real life simulator, and I’ve watch as for months you’ve done nothing but argue with everyone in every thread regardless of the topic at hand and its gotten pretty tiring haha not going to lie chief.
I’m sure everyone that has paid attention in any thread has seen you endlessly claiming that the Harrier is a better dogfighter than more or less any 4th Generation plane out there.
Though basic things like the sooty exhaust or EEGS not being fixed after all this time is rather frustrating. Especially for anyone trying to play it in SB with 0 gunsight
Anytime someone other than yourself actually looks at the performance figures they always reach the same conclusion. The plane is not the suprelative dog fighter that you think that it is.
Logged and open, our first attempt didn’t have enough comparative evidence to make a decision on the how much to reduce. Just waiting on the second report being actioned.
Well the Lockheed fanboys didn’t really like it when I said the F-35 wasn’t designed for dogfighting and the video saying that it was is a load of bullshit as well.
The people that worked on the plane largely thought my take was correct.
The only thing I think is meaningful to add for the Harriers for flight performance is adding drag to the nozzles as they rotate so we can properly hover stop. That way you can actually employ the one of limited number of tricks the Harrier can do in Air to Air.
In the future, corrections to the FM would be awesome though I feel Gaijin will just hide behind “game limitations” for those indefinitely like they did with the Tornado.
