BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

No at low level your lock to a ground location would be blocked by trees etc. You’d need to pitch up for LOS to the target. Hence the requirement to loft.

Now I think about it I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Shar with BL-755 which has to be released in a lay down attack at a specific release point, Jaguar, Harrier and Tornado GR’s can all do that and have confirmed BL-755 support.

So a minimum release alt and that would be about it then?

Feels like the better solution would be too suggest Gaijin adding minimum release alts for certain aircraft with CCRP than totally removing CCRP

Sharkey Ward’s book covers them giving a briefing of CBUs to the Captain, but by the sounds of it, Hermes didnt want to transfer stocks over to invincible

cible.

and in Harrier 809, the Harrier GR3s handled them most of the time because they had the more experience.

But they did practice laydown attacks enroute to the falklands in the Sea Harrier.

So at least from a Falklands perspective, just sounds like they were never required to

Probably used the non calculated modes and felt the GR3 did a better job.

Yeah by support I mean in the manual as a proper delivery method. Using a CCRP which is how its employed from Jag, Harrier and Tornado GR’s.

Ah, I see, though enroute to the falklands they did outfit it with a lot of weapons never used previously or even really planned to use (like the French runway destroying bomb iirc?)

So it was pretty clear the SHar could be rapidly adapted to fit other roles and afterwards, I doubt they expected it to be needed again

You’ll find the phrase “service deviation” is used ALOT when we go to war.

@MatrixRupture and I were compiling all the Harrier reports together, all these are for the various Harrier 1 airframes at the moment. What the Harrier would look like with just some of these changes would be awesome
