Just got the t10, this thing overheats like instantly. Feels like you have to go to like 80 throttle to have any kind of staying ability.
Also anyone know stats of the maws in terms of azimuth/elevation?
just harrier things
stay at 90 throttle
Is that the max without overheating?
It depends on the map (Winter maps you can squeeze a little more out of it) but yeah 90-92% Throttle is where you wanna leave it
Around 80-90% throttle is actually the max “normal” RPM for the engine. Going above that is combat thrust that is only meant to be used sparringly. Just stick to about 85-90% throttle unless you get into a fight and you’ll be fine. No where near as bad as it used to be or what its like on the Harrier 1s though, so be thankful for that :D
(WEP is water injection and is finite, use it sparringly and it will cause quite massive overheat very fast)
Though should be said that whether the harriers should overheat at all is debatable. Plenty of evidence to suggest it’s totally ahistorical but difficult to report and gaijin is unlikely to change anything.
A lot of planes do that when slightly banking… I’ve noticed it yes but it’s not unusual so I didn’t notice it all too much
Iv grinded most nations to TT and this is the only jet that does this. Never used to before the last “buff”
Might be me but if something costs real momey in game and when broken by changing FMs it should ve a priority fix.
Any other jets that cost £60 wobble to the point its a useless aircraft?
Have you ever flown any mirage 3/5/kfir at low speed? That rudder is even worse than the harriers.
Im still nagging TMs to get that report passed
Yh i see what you are saying there but…
The harrier does it at every speed, slow, fast, wobbles the same.
Goes without saying … its slow, burns hotter than the sun, has no sustained turn rate, now has an air spwn so never gets a base . Literally no redeeming quality and now to top off the middy of all.mid jets off… you cant aim straight
£60 plz
Shouldnt the harrier beat an F5 in a dog fight? If so realism when?
That’s more so the f-5 fm outperforming the IRL F-20, not that the harriers are woefully underpowered
If thats the case theres alot of work to do. As the F5 is debatably one of the best dogfighters at its BR.
The harrier is one of the worst.
So the game is complete fantasy then?
Gaijin for some stupid reason, accepts soviets sources over US sources for the F-5 which is why its overperforming. Attempts to bring the F-5s FM in line with IRL sources have failed because they think the soviets know better than the flight manual
and there are a load of reports in for the Harrier FM, just gaijin dragging their heels. Though the main issue is the VIFF. I doubt the game code can actually model that right.
But this report would be sweet Community Bug Reporting System
It’s because they’re taking values from the Russian flight manual for the f5 which was based off not actual flight testing but from other sources, instead of the natops manual that has values form actual flight data.
To be fair the Russian fm has loads more datapoints than the natops flight manual making it much easier to put it in the game, but still
“Unmatched low speed control”
Is what the harrier is known for.
From what i read (you are right) the viffing is what nade the harrier the best at low speed dogfights
So we are sayjng its beyond gaijins capability to code the viff?
So they should tweek the harrier to be a UFO at slow speeds. Not the sad bullied bus of a harrier we have right now.
There are a number of issue regarding the FM which are difficult to test and report (for example one excellent primary source for the Harrier 1 has the Harrier in a configuration currently not possible, no gunpods and external fuel tanks, though currently the aircraft in game with clean wings but with the gunpods cannot compete)
But put simply:
- STR is too low
- The AoA is too low
- The thrust curve is completely wrong
and there is probably more.
But as for the VIFF.
Sharkey Ward:

In-game, angling the nozzle like that, would do absolutely nothing to the pitch, let alone angle the nose up “instantenously”
Sources indicate that at 400kts, and a 60 degree nozzle, its possible to hit 19 degree/sec ITR at a high warload, thats on par with F-16s
Does this include American ones as well?
All the materials are for Harrier GR5 and GR7 so can’t say for certain.
