So I think im confusing nozzle nudge with something else
Surprising. When you hear people moping on about how hard it was to fly and stuff but I can understand once you get to his level that you want more control and love it when it is sensitive and powerful
Well m, I’ve obviously never flown a harrier so take this with a pinch of salt. I have however flown a prop recreational plane before, the Ellipse aero iirc.
The Harrier as stated by many pilots was exceptionally stable in the hover, even more so than the helicopter. The issues in the Harrier 1 came from the flight regime between 30-90 knots. This is where you could experience intake momentum drag yaw. This was due to the differential drag of the intake caused by the slip angle being too large to one side yawing the plane rapidly therefore rolling it over rapidly and this caused many fatalities.
The solution, keep the aircraft pointing into the wind when in transitioning flight. Both the original and most notable test pilots for the kestrel and harrier survived to die peacefully of old age. I think that says enough.
That’s very interesting, the manuals suggest the same movement.
Maybe it’s to do with the SAS?
Oh yes. Even in the 80s it was well known that if you behave like a fool, you’ll die like a fool but if you treated the plane correctly then it will love you and you will love it
Yessir Tremling also said that the harrier was unstable and nippy compared to the Hornet, if that can draw a comparison.
After watching Zenturion’s video on the Sniper pod on the F-2A.

Can someone please make an official suggestion for the Harrier GR.9 (preferably A model). We haven’t gotten any new suggestions for new Harriers since the GR.5 thread. Can it also be made very clear that it can also carry 18 Brimstones. I want to roleplay as a heli with 18 Brimstones and AIM 9Ms/ASRAAMs
Im fairly certain has all been internally suggested. My guess is that Harrier Gr9A will come with either ASRAAM or MMW Brimstones and thats why they havent added it yet.
But the full list of upgrades for the Gr9A would be:
- HMD (Same as the one in the GR4)
- Mk107 Engine
- TERMA pod
- Brimstone 1s (Not dual-mode)
- Paveway IVs
Then optional upgrades that strictly speaking should be on the Gr7 as well:
- ASRAAM
- 6x AAMs
- 6x AGM-65
- Sniper Pod
- ePaveway II
I know the list but I just want GR.9, maybe we can get 9A with ASRAAM and MMW Brimstone but I just want a 18 atgm Harrier with HMS : (
I also don’t want to just wait for them to finally remember about something they hate
Gr9A had the HMS and it never used the SAL version. So unless gaijin actually made an exception to give us SAL until MMW was added (but its Britian… so they never would) so thats why I think it is being delayed.
They also probably shouldnt add both. Gr9A is all we need.
But yeah, probably will be waiting a while
Meh I really wish there was a way for the UK to get a Harrier 2 plus.
Technically there is but only the loyalists of the Harrier and this forum will vote in favour of it
What way is that?
The Harrier 3. Also known by some as the FGR.11/13
As a GR.9ish aircraft with the Blue Fox
Ohhh lmao,
That would just be a Gr.9 Plus
They actually did all the engineering for it and quoted a price.
Was like 25 million pounds IIRC.
I haven’t heard the name GR.9 Plus but yes it was something that actually would have saved the MoD and Britain as a whole a lot of money and capability. 25 million pounds is not a lot of money for the 2000s or 2010s and likely still have given the RAF and FAA that extra little power that they need today and for the next few years
Well, you know I love the Harrier but at the time they pulled the plug they had expected the JSF program to be completed in like a few years. However it ended up taking decades.
The Sea Harrier FA3 or whatever you want to call it. Wont get added. The bare minimum required is a built airframe usually. They wouldnt even add the EAP even though the only thing it was missing was live weapons.
3 Harriers they need to add:
-
Sea Harrier FRS1 (early) or T-4 (with radar) as a 9.7/10.0 version with 9Gs.
-
Harrier Gr5. 4x 9Ls, no BOL for the 11.0 BR in Air but 4x AGM-65s of an appropriate type for 10.7 in GRB.
-
Harrier Gr9A for 12.7+ depending on AAMs with all the upgrades that is afforded.
Also always the option of a Spanish EAV-8B+ I suppose but it would be a little wierd.
T-4 was never fitted with radar.
A Hunter was though
Yeah, didnt think one was, then a Sea Harrier FRS1 (early) for the 9.7/10,0 BR would be fun
