B-29 shouldn’t be balanced by a singular famously slow plane.

You do know there are other aircraft in the 5.0-6.0 range that are nearly as slow right? A6M5 is just an example (an overtiered one.)
This and they all need need serious altitude, gunner accuracy & structural buffs to withstand +20mm

Calling A6M5 overtiered is a massive strech, and even then you shouldn’t balance a bomber around a single non-interceptor that’s slower than it. Even if A6 were overtiered, that’s still not justification for B-29 to be so high
The A6M5 ko is a 4.7 or maybe 5.0 aircraft, but it’s 5.3… The A6M6c is at 5.0, but with worse performance than some 4.3s.
They’re seriously not. Heck even if they were, that’s not a reason for B-29 to be so high

The A6M5 ko is only good because people don’t know how to fight it/aren’t paying attention.
It’s got 23mm cannons that definitely hold their own. I can tell you from experience.
Engines also have, I believe around 100-200 more HP collective than the B-29
Surely you have never flown these things. 5.0 and 5.3 is ridiculously high.
