Potential Bug Reports

Off the top of my head, I already see several potential bug reports for the B-66B:

  • Tail turret lacks radar-guided functionality (leading indicator) – on hold indefinitely
  • Missing 100 lb cluster options? – not enough information found

B-66B is also missing ATO bottles (Up to 12 bottles)

Since the B-66B Destroyer is Rank VI and therefore will spawn on the airfield at the beginning of the match, it should have ATO bottles.

B-66B doesn’t have external drop tanks and AN/ALE-2 chaff dispensers. Yet, it should have those in-game.

I’m fairly confident these are the same chaff dispensers modeled on the B-57B in the dev server, as sources also mention the B-57 used the AN/ALE-2 dispensers.

First ever rear-mounted radar if I’m not wrong. It’s very interesting and I believe other vehicles as well could recieve this feature, but I don’t think it would 100% of the times useful.

Yep, Lancasters had radar functionality for their rear gunners.

MD-1A in the B-66B’s tail turret should also provide a lead indicator, since the system calculates firing solutions automatically between the turret and the target, up to its range of 7.3 km.

I’ll make a new bug report on lead indicator once they fix the radar scanning direction from forward to rearward.

Some Allied fighters/bombers were fitted with tail warning radar during WW2.

Bad news. I just got an update on my bug reports for the MD-1A turret radar. Radar mechanics for the gunner aren’t being worked on yet.

I was particularly looking forward to the B-66B because of its functional tail turret system. Hopefully, the devs will get around to implementing a fully functional MD-1A before the patch goes live.

In the meantime, I’ll investigate the missing features of the CCRP and AN/APS-54 radar warning receiver and create new bug reports on those.

Weird that they would model the radar in the rear and give it accurate information if it wasn’t going to be functional in this update

That’s unfortunate, I was looking forward to having only one of a few bombers with actual defence against aircraft. My main hope now is that it gets an airspawn and moves down in BR, because it will be bad at 9.0.

F3D also has rear-mounted radar but it’s not modelled

I think I was misunderstood, I meant first ever rear-mounted radar in-game.

No CCRP will be provided for the B-66B, and the reasoning is this:

are accepted. We should expect to receive chaff dispensing pods for the B-66B.

Trying to find more information on the T-36 cluster bombs, but I hit a dead end in my search.

Second dev server has now opened, and here is the current state of the B-66B:

JATOs, RWR, and avionics blocks have been added, along with the third crewman. However, the B-66B is still missing its chaff pods.

It’s still sitting at 9.0, and with the Tusk Force update imminent, the B-66B will potentially be facing advanced interceptors armed with SARH missiles, including:

  • F3H-2 (9.0) — AIM-7Cs
  • F-106A (9.3) — AIM-4Fs
  • F-4C (10.0) — AIM-7Ds
  • MiG-21 SPS-K (9.7) — R-3Rs
  • MiG-21S (9.7) — R-3Rs
  • S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (8.3) — Matra R511s
  • Mirage IIIC (10.0) — Marta R530
  • F-8E(FN) (10.0) — Marta R530s
  • Shahak (10.0) — Marta R530

Those are air RB BRs.

Without chaff pods or an airspawn, you’ll be forced to hug the deck and rely on terrain, provided it isn’t as flat as a cornfield, if you find yourself uptiered. But this leaves you highly vulnerable to the vultures carrying more advanced infrared missiles, including the almost impossible-to-dodge AIM-9G and R-60.
