Well, I’m sure they had their reasoning for reducing the Rank of both of these, but whatever that reasoning was, it screws over certain tasks. Whether that was intended or not.
They were changed to rank II as well as the F6F-5 and P-51C-10
It’s so stupid considering that like except for maybe the premium BTD-1, there’s literally no rank III torpedo-carrying U.S. aircraft that you reliably get ship kills near or at the same BR as the torpedo coastal vessel boats for the Long Lance Battlepass challenge unless you want to get insta-shot down by insane AI gunner fire from destroyers and cruisers at higher BRs.
British (aka Aussie) Beaufighter 21 and Firebrand also got relegated. Together with the US F6F-5 it meant a slashing of the number of torpedo bombers available for Tier III dailies
I can understand 3.0s (eg F6F) going down as the BR/Tier combo always felt odd, but why hack away at the usefulness of 3.7s when others (eg B7A2) were left untouched? It felt far too random.
Well I avoid aircraft in Naval but not being able to use SB2Cs or a B-25 for bomber tasks is painful. The only viable US option at a minimum BR to still be in Rank III is the B-26.
My reasoning is that it’s easier to bomb AND strafe ground targets, so an SB2C was perfect, and a B-25 decent. Now the only good option is a B-26. Because I’m not going to take a B-17 down on the deck.
Depends on the wording - usually you can do the dailies in any rank as long as you have used the required rank previously in the game - this works for me in air, land and sea.
So start with at least Rank 3 vehicle for the “hard” task, them move to anything else once it is dead - works for killing bases and units with bombers & strike, killing DD’s with boat torps in naval, etc
Does the vehicle ranking system in game follow any kind of system?
I’ve noticed that some vehicles that appear in multiple tech trees at the same BR feature at different ranks. Examples being:
Swedish T-34 being a Rank 3 but the equivalent USSR vehicle is a Rank II.
Chinese T-34 (1943) Rank III vs USSR equivalent at (1942) being a Rank II
Personally I reason it to be a function of total vehicles available to a tech tree and the Ranks need to reflect a certain portion of total vehicles. China and Sweden have far fewer vehicles available per rank than USSR and therefor certain vehicles appear at higher ranks. I figure the proportions are to assist players with vehicle research so that Sweden for example doesn’t feature excessive rank II vehicles and not have enough Rank IIIs to make researching Rank IV feasible. Does anyone know if there’s specific criteria or conditions
The different styles of task are clear to anyone who reads the requirements. If the task is to get torpedo kills using a Tier III plane that’s what you need to do and other vehicles are irrelevant.
