The b 17e in war thunder has poor historical accuracy. It is supposed to absorb tremendous amounts of damage and many flying fortresses historically came home without wings. Gaijin please make it more durable…

ALL planes in WT have this issue.
B-52 for example, will crumble at the sight of a 20mm AP round going within a kilometer of it

So we’ve been told that this will be investigated at several points. It never is. Bombers are bad because Gaijin want them bad, fighter players would cry if they were accurate instead of free loot, etc etc.
There are no real plans.

i think mr snail should rework all aircraft damage model not only bombers but maybe this will take many years and if mr snail rework all aircraft damage model maybe that will not make bombers better than fighter !

Both views need to hold back.
fighter players need to stop being such crybabies because “BOMBER MADE ME LOSE!!!”, too bad, next time take care of your AI units, or kill the bomber sooner.
Bomber players need to stop thinkin they should survive +3 attacks and come out.
the fix is simple.
low caliber (below 30mm) explosive rounds just tickle them.
We can tune down 20mm/23mm explosive damage. So then bombers are only countered by destroying all control surfaces or killing all engines or a headon attack to the pilot/s via use of AP
structural failures should only come as the result of a 37mm and up explosive round/rocket connecting. If you don’t have any of those you need to load some AP.
Now it much fair not only for the bomber but also the fighter player.
The bomber now has an actual window of time to kill/repel the offender (still needs aim for it)
And the fighter can be skilled enough to just destroy all tail control / all engines or lit a fuel fire on board in 2-3 passes.
IF IT AIMS WELL
Bombers won’t die instantly but it will be pretty easy to leave it on a timer if you aim well enough. (Just like how most hs-129 B-3s die in most ARB matches, specially downtiers, just a very delayed death)
Unless you just snipe the pilot/s because they didn’t have an armor plate in between you and them

I ACCEPT THIS.
IT IS REALY BORING TO PLAY A FLYING FORTRESS THAT IS MORE LIKE A FLYING TARGET.
gajin needs to make that more accuate i would also like to see a better modelt cockpit and the fact that you cann steer planes ther have a copilot even when the actual pilot is bad realy good would be also when in this case the cockpit view would switch the seat automaticly
