I,m just suggesting that we add the British Avro Vulcan to war thunder and of course with its iconic sound, being that we already have the buccaneer there should be no reason not to add it to war thunder?
I would like to see it, but bombers are mostly obsolete in higher tiers.
Really cool plane, thoroughly not suited to war thunder. It has no defenseive armament, and has no countermeasures. It was designed to use its speed and altitude to protect it, and in war thunder what that translates to is either instant death to anyone who gets close to you, or games that last for way too long because you are in space and noone can catch you. Maybe if they add a different way for bombers to play it could work but right now it just doesnt fit into the game. the buccaneer is different, as it gets countermeasures and has decent CAS usage, and can carry Aim9B’s if you really want to try and hunt planes
The Vulcan actually had a massive number of countermeasures. It could carry up to 4,680 chaff packets or a mixed load of 528 flares and 936 chaff packets. It also had a tail warning radar which could warn the crew of both aircraft, and missiles, approaching from behind.
If anti-radiation missiles get added the Vulcan could have a niche as a SEAD aircraft, as it gets both AGM-45 and Martel anti-radiation air-to-ground missiles.
and can carry Aim9B’s if you really want to try and hunt planes
A single Vulcan was apparently modified in the Falklands War to carry a pair of AIM-9G Sidewinders.
So GJN would only give it 264 flares & chaff on mixed, if the way they have dealt with the Tornado is anything to go by.
This is a duplicate to Flame2512’s post on the old forum. Hopefully they will allow him to repost his entire suggestion that was open for discussion.
Gaijin have already talked about anti-radiation missiles and why they havent/wont add them just yet, but the underlying problem is still there, it is a high altitude strategic bomber that would be either fodder, or uncatchable, ther is no inbetween with these sort of vehicles. as the game works right now, they have no place
Your forgetting it’s also an extreme low alt bomber aswell. And it would not be uncatchable, since the Buccaneer is neither fodder nor uncatchable and it works perfectly well. The Vulcan has similar top speed, 5 more bombs and is only less maneuverable but has countermeasures compared to the Buccaneer when carrying max payload.
Flame you need to respost your original post that is detailed, since this discussion with the lack of details in the beginning will not get passed.
I had a discussion topic for the Vulcan, and a formal suggestion. The suggestions area still seems to be closed (you can’t make new posts there).
When I get a chance (will probably be very busy the next few days) I will post the discussion topic again, then do the formal suggestion when the section reopens.
Doesn’t seem like there was any additional information on this so I’ll drop this here
It has a few manuals and a LOT of information on the Vulcan, its systems, etc
It has already been passed the suggestion made by Flame and I.
I know the suggestion got passed to the Dev’s back in Sept 23’, is there any way to know what happened to that since? Like I cant find any news if it was rejected, or if its still in consideration limbo over a year later. I for one have wanted the Vulcan for years so it would be nice to know if anything came of that suggestion.
nothing is happening just like the Harrier 1 FM
Once it is passed to the devs it’s up to their own pervue to either add it or not add it and when they decide to do that once the model has been commissioned.
Countermeasures or not I get what your saying but all I have to say for anyone giving that reason is F-117 Nighthawk…
After adding this they quite literally have no reason to give for not adding it other than “we dont want to” as I would base the 117 in the same class as the Vulcan and they added the 117…
Within the context of ARB/ASB yes, you are somewhat right, though the F-117 is small enough to largely evade notice, make it to a target and get back home again in something like ASB.
But the F-117 is really intended as a GBU dropper for GRB and not a lot else. Its ultimately though just a test bed for stealth and that is its true purpose
The Avro Vulcan would have to be higher than the Canberra at 8.3 because the Vulcan has much larger bomb load and better defensive abilities (flares and chaff) but lower than the Buc S2 at 9,3 which is faster and tiny in comparison. At 8.7/9.0 approximately, it would face a lot of jets, including more than a few supersonics in uptiers which would treat it largely as a free kill. Making it very rough in ARB.
in GRB it would also largely be limited to unguided weapons and carpet bombing, which is “fine” but would also be fairly vulnerable to any SPAA at or around that BR and doesnt even get stealth/small size as a defence (though maybe ECM could be introduced on it to make it better for this)
Dont get me wrong, I would kill for the Vulcan, and no matter what issues it might have, Id play it all the time. But the Vulcan and other strategic bombers are an incredibly niche aircraft that would struggle like hell within the current game. Major overhauls would be required before it and others could be introduced
Oh Im aware Ive seen quite a few of your post’s been keeping my eye on the Vulcan topic I would also fly it out no matter what but as for the easy target honestly with how gaijin have kept changing the game isnt taking any bomber out now a days doing that lol?? Going out in B-17’s and lancasters for a 109 or FW-190 to 1 shot your tail off with a cannon(Btw im not arguing or anything like that just feel its true) I mean its like you said yourself the EC for the Nighthawk isnt even 100% and they still went and added it, at least the Vulcan has Cm’s that work 😋
Yeah, it has a chance. Would still probably be best as an SQV or event aircraft (maybe even event premium) as to avoid causing issues in the grind working down the tree
Agreed, that or a Squadron one like the Nighthawk maybe?? just a thought
