Idk… I just meant more than “The Mirage IIIE is 10.7”… You know maybe some more comparisons??
That doesn’t really matter. You’re talking about a specific vehicle(s), so that section would be the correct one to put this thread in. It doesn’t matter if you can see the info in game or have to go through the wiki… This thread will be locked if it is kept in the wrong thread… I’ve seen you on the forums for awhile, I think you would know this by now…
Don’t tell me, tell @Vamilad… Idc what aircraft you compare, but you should do it in the right section so that the thread does not get locked… And you know, also just add a little more information, so others don’t have to go looking for it… If you’re going to talk about something, put what you know out there, so that you know we’re to start… I find that that’s very common when people need help troubleshooting something or ask for help… They ask, then get angry when you start with something that is super basic, but they didn’t give any extra information.
CMs: 60 CM
Guns: 2x 30mm ADENs with 260 rounds
Missiles: 2x AIm-9Gs
Top Speed: 618kt
Poor overall handling (outside of VIFF) and low energy retention but good acceleration
(honourable mention, harriers are plagued with issues, notably with defeating IR missiles. Its incredibly hard due to how gaijin models IR sigs/flare resistance.
Mirage IIIE
CMs 15x LCM, 30x CM
Guns: 2x 30mm DEFA with 250 rounds (or RATO for extra boost in accleration)
Missiles 2x Magic Is + 1x Matra R530 or R530e
Top speed: 1110 KT
Good handling but poor acceleration and poor energy retention
TLDR: Mirage is nearly twice as fast, has a radar and a single SARH (which is very good) and 2x Magic Is which are better than Aim-9Gs. Additionally it has the better defensive suite with the LCMs and likely doesnt suffer from being nearly impossible to defeat most modern IR missiles.
There is a reason why the Harrier’s are 9.7 and the Mirage IIIs are higher, because they are generally better. The Harriers that stand much of a chance going toe to toe with the Mirage IIIe are the SHars which are 10.7 and 11.3 respectively (and quite frankly are underperforming a LOT at the moment)
Maybe the Mirage IIIe are tiny bit high, but at most maybe 10.3 instead of 10.7 as the Matra could easily be 1x free kill and super-sonics vs sub-sonics at that BR are a bit of a problem. Mirage III at 9.7 would be unbelievably OP and Harrier Gr3/AV-8C at 10.7 would be DOA.
AV-8A with its 240 CMs though could do with being 10.0 instead of 9.7 because that being the same BR as the others is a bit of an insult with THAT many CMs and the Harrier Gr1 which is also the same BR really really needs to go down in BR with NO CMs at all.
but still harriers are undertiered , they are fighting early supersonics and late subsonics with aim-9a and no flairs , since the grb and arb battle ratings are different now harrier should go up in arb
The problem is that the Mirage 3E and 3C are identical outside of the E having CM. Additionally its got pretty superb weapons and at 10.0 (mirage 3C) they would be ridiculous in the hands of the right pilot. The balancingcheck being the all aspect slingers that make players avoid the Mirage 3C. At 10.3 you have the A5C which has 2 magic 1’s with a lot of CM but its a mig 19 body so not great but not bad. Also at 10.7 you have the AJ37, which only has 2 Aim 9P3 and a gunpod with 150 rounds and usually 1 CM pod with 24 flares and 330 chaff. Pretty bad armament compared to the mirage but much better flight performance until its gets slow in which it also doesn’t accelerate fast but its top speed on deck is faster than everything else iirc.
If they got fixed/buff sure. But SHars with Aim-9Ls and radars are very hard to play at their respective BRs. With only Aim-9Gs and no potential future buffs, they’d basically be unplayable.
For example this is what the Harrier’s were like IRL when it comes to defeating missiles:
Sea Harrier Over the Falklands by Sharkey Ward
but in game IR signature is based upon thrust:
So basically Defending a missile in a Harrier is a pain in the butt due to game limiations. If that was fixed. Then sure, they could move up quite a lot.
