first they should add manual backups to turret drives and stuff, because that is an issue that effects almost every tank rather than just a few with autoloaders
Manual backup is the slow traverse rate when you run out of “battery” when the engine is inop. Damage to turret drive means its broken as in the manual controls are broken too.
Not in WT you can’t.
IRL no you would take your tank back to unit maintenance to get fixed or (more likely) bail out and run.
This only makes sense if your battery dies but the autoloader is untouched
except it doesnt, for some reason on some vehicles if your hydraulic sump tank gets damaged at all both your turret drives immediately fail, which is insanely unrealistic, as both the hydraulic system is still functional and manual backups would still work
You don’t expect Gaijin to get things right do you? The more “detail” they add to the game only increases the opportunities for inaccuracy and mistakes. Which, again, shows that players should be careful about the “realism” they ask of them.
We are not in real life, we are in War Thunder, remember that, and if there is a failure the gunner can take the ammunition and propellant manually and place it in the breech
not really, because in warthunder most people only have ammo in the carousel, which is mostly inaccessible without it being able to turn
In WT, repairs are abstracted for game playability so that is a mute argument.
IRL That is assuming the autoloader isn’t damaged in a way that would prevent the breech from being manually operated. Like the loading tray being stuck half retracted etc.
IRL, a crew isn’t going to try to manually load if they can help it. They will withdraw or else be stuck in a severely degraded mode. IRL many crews seem to choose to bailout of damaged tanks instead of continuing to “fight the tank”.
Is that what I said? It’s not real life, it’s War Thunder, reloading is still possible, and why did you mention World of Tanks?
I agree it should be added but so should hand cranked turret rings when the basket is damaged on Abrams and leopard because they feature torsion spring manual rotating mechanisms for that exact scenario
the rear compartment on the T-90M that is protected by blowout panels is an external storage. And would require one of the crew men to exit the tank to bring them in to the main fighting compartment if it
this shouldnt even effect the turret drive at all
the basket is suspended from close to the ring, it does not even ride on the tank floor

ive noticed it has become an issue on the merkava as well with the hydraulic pump in the turret
