Autocannone da 20/65 su SPA Dovunque 35.

History.

The SPA Dovunque 35 was a light truck produced in Italy by Società Piemontese Automobili (S.P.A.) based on the older Fiat Dovunque 33, thus remedying its critical issues that emerged during the Ethiopian War and remedying the need for a new light truck. The vehicle was presented at the Motorization Study Center of the Royal Army and was positively received and accepted into service almost immediately. It had its baptism of fire during the Spanish Civil War, and was used on all Italian war fronts even after the end of the Second World War until the 1950s. The Dovunque 35 was mainly used for towing light artillery, but was built in numerous other special versions including an anti-aircraft gun version obtained with the installation of a Breda 20/65 Mod. 1935 machine gun and used for the anti-aircraft protection of motorized columns given the frequent attacks by the RAF and the US Air Force.

Armaments and propulsion.

Like many Italian autocannons, this one was armed with a 20 mm Breda 20/65 Model 1935 anti-aircraft gun on a 360° rotating carriage, which allowed a fair amount of anti-aircraft and anti-vehicle protection, however at the cost of almost non-existent armour.
The engine that powered the truck was a 4053 cc 4-cylinder petrol Fiat SPA-18T, which delivered 55 HP at 2000 rpm, guaranteeing a road speed of 60 kilometers per hour for approximately 290 km of autonomy.

It’s a bit silly that we didn’t get a truck with a 20mm cannon in the first place and instead got a scout car with 2 people in it classed as SPAA.

I am a bit torn on this getting into war thunder as I feel like it will be just worse then the AS 42 as it just be slower it would have worse armor and bounce less shots for it’s more rectangular and redundant as we already have the AS 42
BUT
I think it’s nice & cool so this is maybe for me +0.5

+1, but ngl the unorthodoxly short bonnet is triggering me. It just looks…strange

Still better than what they usually add, which is almost nothing.

Both have no armour, but the Dovunque gets 3-4 more crew members, making it more survivable + there’s a chance the engine might protect the driver.

This. Usually it takes 3-4 people to operate an AA gun efficently but neither the AS 42 nor the Flakpanzer 1 and 38(t) have enough space for Gaijin to allow the crews to move around with the gun, without having to add some animation effort.

With the truck you can at the least have 2 crews sitting in the front with the driver or maybe even near the gun, if there was enough space.

Irl, the AS 42 can fit 3 crew members.

Another prize vehicle I would like.
Italy needs more low-level premium vehicles.
To become competitive it must have as many as Germany
