Hello everyone! This tree wouldn’t have been made without the great help of @GTP_Paulie-psn, so send thanks their way if you must.

Why must Australia and New Zealand be included together?

Australia and New Zealand as geographically close island nations share a seagoing history, with both nations being founded by the British Empire, and as such their respective navies continue to share tradition founded by their shared imperial background and structure. Both nations navies branched off from the Royal Navy during the World War period, however they both operated designs from the United Kingdom, with their own unique modifications. They continue to collaborate to the modern day in the Naval sphere, operating the same class of Frigate, the ANZAC-class.

During the First World War the Australian and New Zealand armies formed the Australia & New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), which has become memorialised in both countries, as a national holiday; ‘ANZAC Day’. This holiday memorialises all that have served in the two nations armed forces.

History of the RAN and RNZN

Australia first began its independent navy in 1901, with the combination of the multiple colonial navies into a single structure, named the Commonwealth Naval Forces (CNF), this was further pushed along by the Defence Act of 1903. Establishing a command structure for a partially Independent Royal Australian Navy. More specifically it established a force for local defence but that could be capable of forming a fleet unit within the Royal Navy, and within Admiralty control. In 1911 they were granted ‘Royal’ status by King George V, becoming the Royal Australian Navy.

New Zealand similarly had ideas for local defense, and by 1913 they had reached and agreement with the Admiralty, under the Naval defence act 1913. Such that a ‘New Zealand division’ within the Royal Navy itself was created. This remained so until the 1st of October 1941, where the Royal New Zealand Navy was formed in recognition that the force was mostly self-sufficient and independent by that time.

The Tree.

The tree is separated into three main lines, Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers, and Secondary Cruisers, they have a BR span from 3.3-6.0 and include ranks 1-5. The BRs for each vessel have been arranged to the best of my ability, but they are mostly used to direct the flow of the tree. There are 30 Australian and New Zealand vessels in the tree and premium lines, as explained above.

This tree does include some classes which are already present in game, notably the N-class, Leander-class, V-class, Battle-class, and County-class. These were implemented into the tree because they were an important part of the Australian and New Zealand destroyer and cruiser fleets, and as such should be implemented in such a tree, where ever that may be.

This tree includes multiple vessels with the same name, this is due to the re-use of the same names within both the RNZN and RAN. To help differentiate between the ships, they have all been labeled with their pennant number (when applicable), and a roman numeral indicating the first, second etc ships to use the name. For example both the indefatigable class, HMAS Australia I, and the county class HMAS Australia II share a name, and are in the tree.

Why a sub-tree?

As it stands, both ANZAC Nations did not operate some of the most important types of vehicles in other blue-water trees at all, most notably the RNZN did not operate any destroyers or heavy cruisers, and the RAN only operated a single type of capital ship. This leaves us with lots of gaps within the tree.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading the suggestion, this Isn’t supposed to be the ‘definitive’ version of ANZAC blue-water forces, so please feel free to leave suggestions or corrections to the tree or BRs.

Lots of vehicles in this list are very hard to find sources for specific fits and years, so if you have a source that you would like added please DM me, I would love to know more about their refit programs.

As always, I hope this can join Canada in one tree in some way, else the UK tree it should be.

+1 nice tree but, not many battleships but i don’t play naval.

Yeah it is a shame there’s only one BC available to put in this tree, but there’s a reason why the RNZN and RAN never really went for anything bigger than cruisers, so it is understandable why.

Very very nice. We could add a Perth class in their early fit as well now that Charles F Adams is in the game.
