Atgm tandem performance

this didnt even register a hit in game for some reason yet it was clearly a hit both in game and in the replay, tandem atgms seem like they also constantly fail against explosive reactive armor from t72, t80, t90 which is supposed to be something they were designed for… how these missile work exactly? is there an actual secondary explosion or theres just additional penetration values instead?

I feel like it´s only the zbd missile that´s performing so bad ngl. I don´t have any issues with other tandem missiles

well the “tandem” aps03 has only 600 mm pen so its natural it cant pen the soviets. What’s wrong with that? They have much protection against HEATs. Even that Leopard likely has enough protection at that angle, or it was a bush that triggered the rocket.

it appears you simply got unlucky and got gaijined the missile looks like it ricocheted off of the little bit of track armour and then detonated while facing away from the tank, you could always make a bug report about it

I’ve seen it happening with QN506 900mm and aft09 1200mm both tandem missile so it’s not a lack of pen issue but something tied to a randomness factor with the era blocks or thats how it feels

The behavior that you’ve just witnessed is normal, the way you saw the missile is the illustration of non-penetration by (tandem) HEAT ATGM.

Leo2A4 (Chritstian II) has UFP composite armor rated at 600mm CE protection (not including the base angled 35mm RHA plate), and APS03 has exactly 600mm pen behind ERA. It is also worth mentioning that the shot was made at a certain angle which also reduced the penetration of armor (HEAT jet doesn’t go straight through the module of UFP but diagonally, further increasing effective CE protection).

All in all, it is nothing new and is not nation specific thing. The confusing problem here is the way ATGMs are registered when they non-pen, as they appear to be “ricocheting” and turn 180° in the way to portray HEAT jet not going through the module.
