Su-30MKM would be a glorified Su-27SM, nothing like the 30SM.
Compatible armament will save it.
Also it gets maws and the same avionics suite as su30sm so imo much closer to it than27sm
Its a little more modified than you may think;
However, R-77-1 should be compatible, I am just unsure about Kh-38s tbh.
From what I can tell all it does is add gbu capability, a western targeting and a maws, nothing special really especially compared to mki.
Also the reason why I think it can get kh38 is cause it’s part of the su30mk family
Hmm, maybe there is more to back up Kh-38s for exported Su-30 Flanker-Hs.
Don’t think they were ever integrated into other Flankers.
Yeah I don’t think so as well but the brochure says it’s compatible so I don’t mind it being on the su30mk variants. (as far as I can tell, kh38 only used on su35, su34, mig 29m2/35, and su57 for fixed wing aircraft)
I can see that, but we’ve tried to use brochures in the past and they don’t accept them.
I mean sometimes they do sometimes they don’t, they’re inconsistent in that.
That’s usually a case where it’s backed up by other things. But then again we got it on the Su-25, not sure where the evidence of that comes from.
Probably from the the fact that it can be integrated onto the Su-25 platform (doesn’t mean they used it).
(IRL su25sm3 never used kh38, same with su30sm, it’s gaijin fiction, but it’s technically compatible. Even load out charts for su30sm and su25sm3 never mention kh38)
Might be the first plane with MAWS in the Japanese TT, if indo rafale is not added.
Would be a great Fall event award. But I would like it as a tech tree as they did use it mainly as a promotional tool but she could use rockets and bombs. Good cas jet which we need plus cannons with AP great for AA busting
Hoping the latter comes first, personally I’d rather see the Rafale over the Su-30MKM, so I hope gaijin starts filling out that void left on the R2Y2s line which now ends at rank 3 lol
So is Japan getting all of ASEAN, or just bits of it?
What seems to be socially agreeable seems to be the original member states. So we are unlikely to see Vietnam.
Right now, all that is confirmed is Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Japan (with a very heavy) might see 1 or 2 Singaporean vehicles, but for the most part it will be split across a bunch of TTs based on tech origin and needs. Philippines is still up in the air for now with no definitive answer, but its still a relatively weak offering. The only situation I see Japan getting other ASEAN vehicles is a Toyo FD-25 sold to Khmer and Vietnam. Technically on paper, Japan paid for a massive amount of Myanmar’s military budget pre-coup through defense ODA, but idk how that reasoning would go over.
As far as China goes, they kinda screwed up any hope of getting a proper sub-tree for the foreseeable future outside of the existing ROC one.
Also with the introduction of a United KOR tree, there will at least be some competition for ASEAN members as sub trees, but not much. With TH, ID, MY, and SG position in-game all being accounted for, that really leaves PH and VT as the last 2 nations with a decent amount of unique content to add. I could see Korea maybe getting PH, but its an argument of actually military ties with Japan vs sold equipment with Korea there, so again up in the air. Vietnam is 100% a no-go in a Korean TT because basically all the bad stuff Korea accused Japan of doing in WW2, Korea did to Vietnam except they really did refuse to apologize to Vietnam.
Really there just isn’t a whole lot of worthwhile content left outside of the big 4 ASEAN members that have already been confirmed. Vietnam is unlikely for Japan and Philippines just has the Sabrah and a few M113 variants for ground, and their air offerings are terrible being stuck with AIM-9Bs for most of their jets until the FA-50PH which is entirely unnecessary with Japan having the option for like 5 other variants from the 3 current sub nations.
