As an ordinary player, some thoughts on the current War Thunder and the game developers

Before the next major version is about to go live, as an ordinary player, I want to express some opinions and views on the game developers. Since the fall of 2024, the balance of the game seems to have been completely messed up, whether in air combat or ground combat. Especially this year, the air combat environment has become chaotic. I cannot understand what the developers mean by balance? Ever since the Rafale was added to the game, it has been continuously strengthened, and recently there have been reports that the Rafale is getting an even bigger boost. Meanwhile, top planes in other countries are still in the fourth and even third generation, yet this fourth and a half generation fighter, the Rafale, is still being buffed. I wonder if the developers have ever played their own game? Furthermore, does the game have enough capacity to handle major version updates multiple times a year? It seems that from last year to this year, the number of bugs in the game has increased, and some bugs have even become new mechanics that cannot be fixed. Can the development team dedicate one or two major versions to addressing historical problems or accumulated issues? Additionally, there is the contradiction in the statements of the developers or the issue management personnel. Some vehicles from certain countries lack the equipment they had in real history, but when there is solid evidence, it is dismissed with the excuse of affecting balance. When vehicles in the game are too weak, there is a demand to strengthen them, yet players are asked to provide evidence, which is absurd and ridiculous. Meanwhile, the developers strengthen certain vehicles without real evidence, and when players demand to see evidence, they counter with the insistence that they have “no obligation to provide evidence to players.” What I want to say is that this game is nothing without players; much of the vehicle data is even provided by players. Please stop being dismissive towards players with an arrogant attitude. Additionally, do not solely use win rates to determine whether a vehicle is powerful or needs to be nerfed or buffed; that is only one factor and not the entire reason. Finally, I hope to receive a response from the development team regarding my views. Thank you for your efforts on the game.

Chaos is player-driven and the only way to end it is to remove all radar missiles, which isn’t going to happen.
So just play other BRs if you don’t want to see radar missiles.
Rafale has not been “buffed”. And Rafale was corrected to be as-fast as an Su-22M3.

Developers do play their game, you can check replays.
Vehicles only ever change with evidence, and there have been zero changes without evidence provided.
Win rates are not used for changing BRs of vehicles, that has never been a thing.

There are flaws in the game, but your post didn’t address even 10 of them.

Rafale can go exactly mach 2 now.
That’s the last “buff”.

Oh, they fixed it’s wings ripping at mach 1.2ish?

Or is it just a super high alt type of thing?

That’s the main offender.
However, if someone is not a gamer or doesn’t have time for many games and loves aviation (ex. ) as a hobby… doesn’t really have alternative, except play DC’s which is another thing altogether. WT offers easiness of use , while being realistic enough…
Myself i will take a break from the game in a while and for a while, until i see something interesting (hopefully my break will take the whole new update at least).
But i know i’ll come back , because i don’t really have time for MMO-RPGs… and not even the mood in my 38s and forget the MOBAs, i have my job to get angry about…!! So maybe some single player RPGs , but i’ll come back eventually because i like planes and the game has planes and there is no alternative anyway.

Indeed it is. Maybe some day Gaijin will see proper competition in the market but time will tell.

Do whatever you gotta do, man.

The main problem is that this game can’t keep new players, the long road to the top, the same revenue problem as sending beggars, I really don’t understand why a game that has been in operation for 13 years is still balancing the revenue problem to this day, changing the revenue from time to time, shouldn’t the original intention of a game be to let more players have fun?

Hi
If you would like to discuss the overall ballance/MM/BR in game, please use pinned thread.
You want to discuss specific vehicle? Machinery of War section is waiting for you with (in majority of case) already existing thread dedicated specific vehicles (yes, there are hundreds of threads there, each dedicated to specific machine and full of passionate comments from players who use the vehicle on daily basis).

We don’t give “boosts” to vehicles. We try to adjust them as closely as possible to reality (and when we don’t, we try to explain why. For example, RoF in tanks is considered a balancing factor and does not always reflect reality perfectly (or under perfect conditions).

Developers plays WT a lot. Obviously they won’t play the game with big blinking developer hashtag.

I don’t know where you got the idea that some bugs become new mechanics. And no, no one will stop creating new content just to “sacrifice” two major updates because some players ignore the changelog we publish every Major Update and between updates, which is hundreds of lines long. (sadly) You only notice the new renders and videos of new vehicles that we publish, but we do much more than that. Take your time and check the changelog section on our website. Count the number of bugs we fix during major updates and in between. List is really long!

I agree with you: WT is nothing without our players, and we appreciate all of them (except stinky cheaters). From the other side, you need to be aware that ultimately, it’s the developers’ responsibility to create a game that appeals to the majority. It’s not rocket science to implement all the ideas that players suggest, but it’s challenging to select the ones that will improve the game without breaking everything (dramatizing a bit here;) ) that has been worked on over the last dozen years. If we didn’t care about your feedback and suggestions, we would simply remove the Suggestion Section. But we didn’t, because as you can see from the many examples, the developers get ideas from you.

No one use win rates as only factor for BRs. If that would be the case, we would simply change BRs every XX days and call it a day. But that more complicated process that include much more factors.

For the future, please try to use the correct forum section and existing topics to discuss specific ideas. Mixing everything in one thread helps no one. Such threads become bandwagons of complaints (often hard to read) with little constructive discussion.
