I agree, & I’m glad we agree on our opinions here.
As stated in the post responded to, my opinion is for manual hook actuation.
This isn’t my opinion, this is a solution to the problem while I lobby for manual hook actuation.

Which is the primary ask from this thread.
So glad you are in agreement
Yep.
Been lobbying for manual hook controls for half a decade at this point. XD
Yes, only for you, just make it client side. Even if there was always someone filing those conditions it would also spawn for them.
Above
You have a point, I guess I’m on board with the keybind
Planes repair minor damage on the runway in seconds, its really not going to make much practical difference.
Its not going to make long runway landings more attractive
The idea is not necessarily around stopping you or discouraging from using it. The idea is that IF you use it, you need to think about it and do a sensible approach. you cant just fly in at 300+ kts, catch the cable and be fine with a very heavy airframe. Doing so would kill you
Which can be solved by a simple top speed cap. Don’t really need any overengineered solutions like minor damage that don’t actually address the problem.
That would be fine at a bare minimum and largely suffecient. But the idea was just to take it that extra step further. Loop in Carriers too, and model the strain of a carrier landing, which carrier aircraft can handle fine, but everything else cannot.
And afaik War Thunder uses a ‘slowest part’ approach, as long as the repair is faster than the rearm and refuel time, then it doesn’t add any extra time.
