Last time I went to a museum in France and saw a Sepecat Jaguar equipped with a anti-radiation ARMAT AS-37 missile. Since then I did a little bit of research and realised that this particular missile had been cleared for carriage on a few french aircrafts. Since then I’ve been wondering, why didn’t gaijin add those missiles on the said aircraft ? Is it for balancing reasons ?
too low BR
Yeah that’s also what I thought. Thanks for anwsering my question :D
Yeah, Gaijin have said that 11.0 is a hard minimum until they get more data. But I really dont think it would be that big of a deal.
For example, another aircraft that could get AS-37s is the Bucanneer S2B at 10.3 (GRB) which already has 3x AJ-168, which is the MITL version of the same weapon.
So the question really becomes whether or not the value of the seeker suddenly makes the weapon significantly more powerful? The only area that I think it might be is in the form of missile interception, 2S6s for example are nearly impossible to kill with an AJ-168 because they just shoot them out the sky, they may struggle more with 4x AS-37s coming at them at the same time, but then you cant use those weapons against any other ground vehicle and you cant swap loadouts (let alone the large number of SAMs at that BR not dependent on radar at all like the Strela or the Stinger-sligners or something like the Stormer)
Jaguar A & E, (I assume its both) would be limited to only 2 and probably fairly easy to intercept for most part given the low count. It also blocks the use of any GBU on that pylon, so with 2, youd have no GBUs. So I dont think it would be unreasonable at 10.3, let alone the current 10.7 BR.
TLDR. I think gaijin is panicking about nothing
It’s not the ARMAT, its the AS37 Martel. The ARMAT is an evolution of the Martel that was only for export. The French did retrofit the Martel to some Frankenstein MARTEL/ARMAT hybrid, which is basically the one in game (mostly the improved seeker which sees all the bands in game).
I am not sure which variant the Jaguar equipped tho, so I won’t guesstimate
Panicking about adding 2 HARM to a plane already carrying 2 AS30L which are better in 90% of situations is such a Gaijin move when they add a plane with 4 IR fire and forget bombs below 10.0 in the same update
Yeah…
It really is.
Where did you get this from? The update didn’t bring anything with IR guided bombs below 10.0. All that was added below 10.0 with FnF weapons was yak 130 with kab 500 with tv guidance, and no iog (Same rating as A4s that carry the same type of payload). J22 also was limited to tv guidance, and is 10.7.
ARMs should have come to all carriers that could take them, but Gaijin couldn’t be bothered.
TV* but i wouldn’t expect you to know that
Sorry it was indeed TV and I was to feed talking of the Yak130. While the a4 is also below 10.0, it’s also worse in ground battle in general, and it also shouldn’t be below 10.0 in my opinion. The yak130 is destroying the battle rating and especially down tiers about as much as the A4 did when it was popular. There’s nothing more frustrating that facing planes that you can’t deal with from ground vehicles.
The Israeli A4 is strictly better than the yak 130 for a strike platform. If they’re going to keep it at the rating, consistency is preferable over “We’re adding this to a higher rating just because”. The case can be made for both to go up, and it is certainly something they should look at, but pretending the 130 is superior in all aspects to the a4 is not correct. Were it carrying the missing ordnance, you may have a case, but it isn’t.
