As you know, tier 6 + light vehicles allow you to carry a recon micro drone, which lets you help out your teammates to spy on enemies and they have small sizes thus are difficult to shoot down.
Their small size should mean that if the enemy does hit it, it should go down easily…right? After all, small devices are sensitive to powerful rifle caliber rounds hitting it, deforming it easily and shocking the tiny electronics inside…right?
Well not really. I have shot these things with a 35mm round once, and another time with 3x 7.62 rounds all hitting them. Still no effects to their flight performance whatsoever.
It’s ridiculous that the best anti drone vehicles are the artilleries with their HE-VT rounds, which are not anti air vehicles and shouldn’t act as one.
While i do agree that they currently are a bit to durable i also think many underestimate how much punishment such a drone can take, especially from small caliber. 5.56 and 7.62 likely won’t do to much damage unless it hits vital components. In total area i think like only 50-60% of the drone has something you can hit that damages it in some way that effects it’s function. The scout drone in WT aren’t as small as it might first seem, they have a wingspan of 1.8m and weigh 6.5kg ( ODIN - OE Data Integration Network ).
I think a good addition to them might be internal modules in the same way they have added them to helicopters, but less detailed perhaps.
I’d like to remind everyone SPAA gun damage is extremely realistik at the moment.
Here is 37mm mine-shell (100+g of TNT) x3 vs one of the smaller WW2 fighters:
And here is HVAP and then 30mm M-geschoss (75g of TNT) vs tiny wingtip of an even smaller plane:
It’s fairly consistent that recon drone should be able to tank direct hits from Stinger or large caliber HE.
If the drone was even smaller, it would be able to facetank Sturmtiger’s gun. Just like they do in real life.
Since almost nobody is complaining (same with plywood bug 2.0) the ETA of fix is “never”.
