Hello everyone and welcome to this new suggestion,
Today I present to you a new French Aviso, the Agile.
The Agile is a 2nd-class aviso of the French Navy built in the 1910s, on the eve of the First World War. Laid down in 1916 and entering active service the same year, it belongs to a generation of light units designed for coastal surveillance, colonial patrol and rapid liaison missions. With a displacement of around 400 tons, a speed of nearly 17 knots and an armament composed of 100 mm guns and light guns, the Ardent was somewhere between the torpedo boat and the colonial aviso, offering great flexibility of use at low cost. The class, which included several units, adopted a classic architecture but adapted to the new mobility and naval presence requirements of the French Navy at the beginning of the 20th century.
During the First World War, the Agile was engaged in patrol, coastal surveillance, and convoy escort missions, particularly to counter the German submarine threat. Its small size and good maneuverability allowed it to operate effectively in sensitive coastal areas and port approaches. In the interwar period, it was deployed in the French colonies to carry out naval presence, liaison, and maritime sovereignty missions, thus contributing to the maintenance of French authority in its remote territories. Gradually overtaken by more modern models, it remained in service until the 1930s, before being decommissioned. The Agile perfectly illustrates the vocation of the 2nd-class avisos: modest but indispensable vessels, both guardians of the coasts and relays of French maritime power overseas.

The Agile would be an interesting addition to the French coastal tree, bringing a new ship with good maritime combat capabilities and sufficient speed to fight ships of its size or larger. Able to be placed in a folder with the other ships of its class which are distinguished by their armament, the agile would be an excellent addition to the French coastal navy.
