Oh I see. I don’t think it’s anything imminent (27.x should last till mid 2029, unless Apple changes their release schedule), but I guess it’s worth planning ahead for the devs. Shouldn’t be too much of a hassle unless they’re using legacy dependencies or weird architecture-specific code.
you WERE right - just before the last big game update (“Ninth Wave”)… But now it seems like M4 is not enough to play WT normally because of sudden freezes… So, I wonder, how it feels with M2 and M1, not Pro versions.
Can’t understand WT developers - the % of Mac computers has grown significally in past 5 years (and it’s thanks to M-chips, sure). Macs have already about 17% of all new desktop/mobile systems sales, and this percentage is growing rapidly. Apple sales in monetary terms are much higher. And it’s already about 45% of all computers with AI-support do have Apple logo on their bodies.
So why don’t we know anything 'bout native Apple Silicon support?
So I wrote a message to Gaijin Support, and they did reply. At least someone in Gaijin is aware about the issue. For sure I’m not the only one complaining about this, but no idea if they would do anything about it.
Hello guys. To provide you with an update, for Universal app/ARM64 build Macs, we are investigating potential outcomes regarding support. Unfortunately for Intel based Macs, there is no possible solution if Mac ceases support
So… a few months later, I’m now on macOS 27 beta 1, and I’m happy to report that War Thunder still runs splendidly. I do get warnings though that support will end, and I really hope Gaijin compiles War Thunder into a Universal or ASi native app. However, if they decide against that for whatever reason (cost, need to rewrite their Dagor engine for ASi), they could also just compile a Universal version of the Launcher, and bundle Rosetta with it so when launched the actual game will run on top of Rosetta. I think this is feasible, given that there are rumors that CodeWeavers plans to do the same with CrossOver.
