Anyone got a DETAILED guide about how AIM-7F work?

And no, i dont mean just how they work, to the miniscule detail everything single mechanic surounding them

I am tired of seeing missiles hit when I lose lock on someone thats chaffing while multi-pathing at short range

Then seeing them miss someone flying high in the sky thats flying straight toward me

I can tell you that the “lost lock” turns Sparrow into a sort of IOG mode, I think continuous wave, which allows it to impact the target if they don’t change directions. As for when they’re flying at you, it could be that they somehow notched you, as notching isn’t simply perpendicular. If the aircraft is staying relatively close to the same speed as the ground or not moving relative to your aircraft, your radar can lose lock or struggle to maintain it.

So, I don’t have a great video off hand, but what radar mode(s) are you using?

Also, are you using the F-4S or F-4J, or something else? Exactly which plane you are using makes a difference in information for the AIM-7F.

it seems that the F4E radar only works when the target is at a high Altitude

Correct, but he is asking about the AIM-7F’s, which the F-4E cannot carry 😉

F4S in my case

Here are a few videos, all should be good, if you want to get as much info as possible I would suggest watching them all, or at least watching and skipping ahead 5-10 sec over parts that you already understand etc:
