This thread might help, some players are discussing on how to get it to work within the new system.
Hey. Thanks @Necronomica for the ping. I think I have figured some things out :
When applying custom sights, they do not appear correctly in the sight customisation, unless you follow what Nerconomancia has pinged. Try selecting the sight you want, press the save button on the top left of your screen with the vehicle selected, then go test drive the tank. although the custom sight did not render properly in the customisation menu, it should work fine in game
I still have all my old sights I installed before the update and they still works fine, but how do i install a new sight for a new vehicle?
I’m not too sure about that tbf.
What I’d do is keep adding them to the Usersight folder just like before.
Gaijin preset sights are saved in another folder, so they should not interfere
I have also lost access to my custom (user) sights after the most recent update today. Had them for a while last night, lost them again today.
Why can’t Gaijin facilitate the old and the new system for these sights. After all, some of us have built up a library of realistic sights for years before this update. Seems a bit scummy to render all user sights redundant.
After the update, I can no longer download my scope… who I’ve been playing with for over 2 years.
Some sights are just a dot… it also doesn 't load …
and here’s my what’s in the photo)) all this is simply removed and the grid is superimposed)) and I don’t want and can’t play with the grid
A lot of custom scopes were ruined, I was still able to use mine on Sep 23rd, but yesterday the damn game changed it back to the standard one, I haven’t found any way to use it again yet.
They did a fix that made custom sights in the /UserSights folders show up in the “reticle” drop downs.
But they don’t work, it only shows the standard sight, I also have mine listed but if I select it nothing changes.
Sorry but it works for me. You have subfolders for the/each vehicle with the sight in it?
What about the “/tank_sight_presets” which is supposed to be a catch all for sight .blk?
Before I had them in the “all_tank” folder I think that’s what it was called, but when the game updated I couldn’t use them. After investigating, I changed them to the new “/tank_sight_presets” folder, where they worked fine. I could only use them until Sep 23 and until now they don’t work anymore. Anyway, I hope gaijin updates and fixes it. In any case, I will continue investigating and testing configurations. Thanks.
Same - **how do I have the game generate the … let’s say (as I was going to move a CTCV105 sight over to it) - Say to develop a sight for new Event vehicles while doing test drives etc…
So say the new BOXER event vehicle that must be auto-generated to know the proper name: - SO HOW WOULD I POSSIBLY DO THAT!?
’ germ_Bizzare_Folder_Name_Here_For_New_Vehicle ’ ?!?!?
- Required for it to work?
BTW: I only got the new Puma working as I made it on the dev server then copied the folder name over to the normal client…
But with new sight, (as far as I can tell unless someone can share or show otherwise!) there’s no way to GENERATE one and see the directory name to place sights for it there!
- SO ARE WE FOREVER TRAPPED WITH ONLY VEHICLES IN GAME UP TO THIS UPDATE TO HAVE CUSTOM SIGHT IN THE NORMAL MANNER!?!?!?!?
I’m sorry but this new system sure is helpful but confusing as heck. Gaijin seriously should have figured out a way to incorporate the old system into the new one, so i don’t need to go through 15 steps to figure out what I want, as well as all these other options that sure could be helpful but aren’t especially for WW2 and interwar.
Gerald there is a way, find War Thunder Wiki page for the Tank you want, for example :
https://wiki.warthunder.com/Boxer_MGS
then near TOP RIGHT CORNER click on View Source, this will show a text that starts like this :
{{Specs-Card
|code=germ_boxer_3105
“germ_boxer_3105” is the Folder Name in User Sights
