Any difference from Gaijin's own launcher to the one in Steam?

I’ve played the game for about 3 years and a solid amount of money spent. I’ve been thinking to switch over to Steam so it’ll be easier to access all my games. Is there anything I should consider before switching? I do know that Gaijin themselves don’t track my time, but Steam does. Really sucks that they don’t. They really should add something that’ll keep track. I would really like to know how much time I’ve spent. All I know is that I have about 500 hours in battle, so if anyone wants to give me an estimate that’ll be appreciated. I also heard that everything is a bit more expensive in the store when you buy through Steam. Not sure why. Would appreciate an explanation.

No major differences between the two launcher wise. But your Steam account may try to act as a War Thunder account, so you won’t have any progress on that account. I think you just have to relink it or something, also purchases for War Thunder in the Steam store is very unreliable, there are countless topics about it.

as the first response said it might try to give you a steam account but you can just click on your profile and switch accounts, steam automatically updates the launcher might however be 5 minutes late compared to the launcher
the prices are different yes (steam processing fees) but you can just order stuff through your account on their official website to dodge the additional fees
steam will also ask if you would like to open the launcher or launch the game directly
other than that it makes no difference at all
as for your total time spent no one will be able to tell you how much time the game has been idling or how much time you spent looking at tech trees all youll ever know is that you have 500 hours of actual combat experience.

So nothing that significant besides the counted time and prices, but that can be avoided. Kinda sucks that I won’t be able to know my true time in the game. Thanks!
