I must admit as somebody who liked realistic decals when I started out I rarely see anybody use them or use them any where near correctly. Nice to collect them I suppose.

I must say that I fully share this opinion on their use.
For me, the decals are one of the essential aspects of War Thunder. The ability to make units that have made history recognized and give a more realistic look to the game.

Pacifica already said they had no news on this and repeatedly CMs and FMs have said it is quite unlikely, but I’d really love to see them come back. I think stopping them was a bad idea and I really wish they would bring them back.

Lack of historical decals has really been a continually missed opportunity by Gaijin. I don’t understand why they ever stopped it to begin with but they should very much return.

Considering how Gaijin love to make money the lack of opportunity they miss is astounding.I wonder if Gaijin’s team is so young that they genuinely have zero understanding or appreciation of history. The way the game is going might support that hypothesis.
There are so many options available ,for example all these decal sheets for military modelling provide inspiration.
I would love to see the longer numbers for the USA WW2 tanks especially and Red turret numbers for WW2 German.
Israeli air force is especially interesting.

It might seem a trivial thing, but it was a way to get something new and flashy and get your mind out of the grind. Not to mention some designs were awesome! I got some of my best decals in this way!
I just ask that you give new players a chance to get the old decals, they deserve it! You don’t even need to put up new content, just the immense library of decals that were made are enough for a few years of content!

Access to interesting Camo would also be a good seller I think. Currently they are 200GE but are limited. Gaijin are missing a trick by just putting them in chests in a random order.

This would be an easy way for Gaijin to make some money. Players from nations not included in the tech trees could use the historical decals to recreate markings on vehicles their country used.
For example I’d pay GE for the 2018 2nd NZ division emblem to stick on a Sherman

“Easy way to make some money.” It shouldn’t be about money. We used to have a “Week’s Latest” that you could get some decals fairly easily from just playing.

Decal events were the best events this game had tbh plus it was liked by majority of community.

I feel really sorry for those coming into the game now ,the glory days are gone.I think I had the last of them done 3 years ,first two were great last year has seen the game die for me so God knows what it must be like for players with longer time served.
I’ll frankly never understand why they were discontinued; even just “recycling” the old emblems on a rotation to give players the chance to “catch up” would be much appreciated. These assets are already available, why not distribute them? It would’nt cost a thing and build favor with the community

And I think they still can be expanded. They always lacked bomber squadron decals. German or US.
And those are iconic.

I wonder if any of the decals they used before had stipulations for using them that caused issues. I’d assume that the unit decals are still property of the corresponding Gov’t, even if they’re no longer used.
Someone already suggested it. Unsure if it was ever passed though.
I want to bump this thread. Any word on this feature returning? I’d love some more rewarding miscellaneous objectives to do aside from the grind.
