Which like I said, are things that can be branched out in later updates. At the moment, this update is just about getting ARM’s into the game.
Ok, let’s make it simpler. What I am trying to convey is that not all aircraft that carry ARMs should be getting ESM this update.
Such as?
OK good job gaijin
But sadly gaijin delay AGM-45 and AGM-78 after the Heavy Cavalry major update
One big thing I look forward to in this update.
Super happy ESM is finally coming to the game. Technically a buff to the F-2 even though it has no ARM. That being said, praying we get the ASM-3 so it can use ESM offensively. (Although ASM-3 would probably be too gamebreaking sadly)
Is ESM going to be accessible without ARM?
No idea, but im for sure going to bug report it if it isnt. Its still a very useful defensive tool for information if nothing else.
Just for a while Naval SRC radar modes were locked to only aircraft with ASMs. So I could see the same happening. But they might have also learnt from that situation as they did eventually unlock it. At least on some aircraft
and what about maw?
Speaking of missiles,
Can the Su-39 finally get its R-27s at the very least?
That should detect it, I guess. Works also on IRAAM’s after all.
lol no
On the most recent dev atleast only aircraft with ARMs are getting ESM, might need to make a bug report…
(Maybe ill try to sneak in the ability for the F-2 to slave weapons to ESM, which it very dubiously might have).
Much like Naval Search Radars. limitign them to just ASMs was dumb.
So definetly a bug report and maybe a dev forum post for it?
We’ll see how it is activated. Stona wrote it replaces the radar screen, so I’d assume that if you select an ARM you get the ESM screen.
Which would mean you can’t use radar at the same time, which admittedly would be strange (but not unheard of in WT: we also have SAS that cancels out trim and stuff…)
It should actually be a separate screen, or if replacing anything, why the radar and not the RWR, which then would be kind of redundant anyway?
That is a good shout. Especially as the RWR is the main method for ranging for a lot of these weapons
Ik in prior versions when i tested it (its been in the game for a while through custom user missions), it was akin to cycling through IRST/Radar, however idk if the version we have coming to game properly is going to function the same way.
I really think it would be best if it wasn’t “mode exclusive”.
But hey, I’m very happy already that it seems to be integrated in a way that also Sim players can use!
