This thing finally got the nerf hammer it deserved.

I could see them reducing the br of the Falcon but im 100% for them removing the APDS. Yes destroying people in a broken anti air with APDS is fun but thats not how the vehicles should be imo. If you want a vehicle that can kill planes and tanks that mostly focuses on tanks then use an IFV.
only some spaa’s are actually good at being an spaa. m247. wz305. spg09. what do they have in common? proximity shells.

because proxy shells are good at what they do. shooting down planes.
another silent nerf that gaijin pushed throughout the patches.

im having 7 air kills. wrong. only 4. 3 were recon drones. and in one of the patches, they made it so that recon drones dont count as regular air kills. you get 220 points for shooting them down, but they dont count to any anti air missions.
they just constantly keep nerfing spaa’s. if its not cas complaining about too strong spaa, it are other tanks who fail to learn how to play the game.
I don’t have a problem with the removal of the round, but the overall change itself is a really half-assed move by Gaijin. If the intent is to take away the anti-tank capabilities of the 30/35mm SPAA, why do it on only 2 of them. There’s at least a half dozen others using the same round. Yes, in smaller loads but the resupply box really reduces the relevance of that. Nevertheless, there’s still a bunch of SPAA doing exactly what the Falcon/DCA do, and just as well if not better with the same ammo.
Equally important the Falcon was nerfed several BR’s because of this round. With its removal it really needs to move back down to 7.3/7.7 range to be alongside other non-radar gunslingers like the ZSU-23-4M2 with comparable punch. AMX-30 S DCA should come down to 8.3.
The change is really poorly done and half-assed.
Removing the APDS was justified, arguably, but only on the condition that they move down to BRs where they can function as SPAA. The Falcon in particular absolutely doesn’t deserve 8.3 without APDS, given that it completely lacks any form of target tracking. Given the Shilka M2 (The RADARless one) is at 7.3, that would be a decent starting area.
The DCA also needs to move down, as while it does have RADAR, it’s a particularly bad one. 8.0 feels broadly reasonable, given the ZSU-37-2 is at 7.7, though I could also see 8.3 given it’s substantially better than it.
Whatever the case, I really don’t want to see this end up like the T25 or R2Y2s, where Gaijin massively inflates the BR of a vehicle due to it having a specific advantage, then removes the advantage and never touches the BR ever again.
Laughs in bias pantsir used as a tank killer because gaijin copes for Russia
the amount times I don’t pull an SPAA because there are already several up on my team, then watch CAS destroy our entire team because the SPAAs are tank hunting and ignoring the planes is ridiculous, ALL 20mm+ SPAAs should have a maximum of 50/50 AP/HE rounds.
Still enough to LOL pen the lower side hull of a T-72 at 1500m
The ZSU-37-2 doesn’t have SAP-I or APHE though, it only has 1* of gun depression and can be .50 caled. I believe it’s also far less mobile than the Falcon, but I’m not 100% on that.
I’m not against the Falcon going down if it’s performance drops after loosing the APDS, but comparing it’s anti-tank capabilities to the ZSU-37-2 is a bit out there.
SPAA shouldnt be tank hunting
shame gepards didnt also see this change
even bigger shame that falcon and DCA didnt move down to fill the SPAA gaps the nations have at 7.7
if you get killed by a pantsir while being a mbt, mega huge skill issue and blind brainless usa main
What? The T-72 only has 27mm of armor (at 90-degrees)? Or did you not even look up the pen of the SAP-I round?
AP-T 86 83 69 55 44 35
It’s certainly better than the SAP-I of the Falcon.
SAP-I 53 50 42 34 27 21
ZSU37-2 = 60 km/h / 23 km/h
Falcon = 48 km/h / 7 km/h
That’s mighty generous of you.
26mm (20mm plate but angled)
30g explosive filler vs 0g
after the cancer that thing has been causing it can stay where it is until it’s proven that the SAP-I isn’t cutting it
So it has an incredibly goofy weakspot that can be exploited in the game under specific conditions. You gonna use that logic to determine the BR of EVERY combat vehicle in the game? I mean, the M3 Lee at BR 2.7 can pen that at 1500m as well. Let’s raise the BR of the M3 Lee…
But can actually damage more enemies. The 30g is not doing much if it can’t pen. And multiple quick hits of AP can do a lot of damage if the shooter has any clue of what they are doing.
Oh stop whining. It’s losing the APDS. If you STILL have problems after this you might want to change your tactics.
like shooting it in the side from under 1.5km is a “specific condition”
Which we just established it can from the side at anything under 1.5km
if you have problems without the APDS YOU might want to change YOUR tactics.
No wonder OP is mad.
Dude has over a 3k/d in the falcon vs ground targets.
Over 1.5k ground kills and only 149 air kills.
imo gaijin should add a “team reward” system of some kind
giving players some SL and RP every minute or so just for being in an SPAA at all, and then nerfing SPAA AT capacity. This could actually encourage players to sit and wait in an SPAA, instead of only revenge killing CAS
It’s a dumb change. Didn’t even change its BR. Glad I moved onto Flakpanzer 341. There’s no way Falcon will stay 8.3 without APDS. Will drop down like the VEAK did after it lost its HE-VT round.
Falcon was ready to move up to 8.7 with how broken it was at 8.3.
Leaving it at 8.3 for the time being to see how it’ll perform or dropping it down to 8.0 is a sensible option here.
Some don’t want to see their bully machines nerfed.
