An initiative to resist the IR bomb and raise awareness of its key points and measures

According to the unpacked data, in the next update, which could be as soon as today, BWD will increase the required respawn points for the newly released IR bombs and laser TV bombs. The IR bombs will increase by 30%, meaning they will require over 900 points (even higher than the Kh-38). Even the junk like the GBU-8 and the Roadrunner will increase by 10%.

First, let’s state the current situation of CAS. Since the Leviathan update, split air defense has become widespread, making it difficult for CAS aircraft to attack without air defense interference. As a means of consecutive kills, the current general benefit of CAS is not as good as the post-launch-and-forget helicopters with AT stations, or even as good as deploying another vehicle. This situation is the same for all CAS aircraft of all nations.

Then comes the major impact of this update. The newly added IR bombs in this major update provide a more affordable and sufficient CAS option for the German, British, Italian, Chinese, and Swiss nations. However, this does not mean that IR bombs are superior to the Kh-38. As gliding bombs, their effectiveness in the current environment with widespread air defense can only be described as average. The popularization of cheap IR bombs gives players of other nations more choices. The CAS capabilities of air forces other than ELB in land battles have also become more valuable. CAS aircraft of other nations are no longer absolutely inferior to the Su-30. At the same time, the strength of CAS across all nations has become more balanced, with a variety of options (see attached image 2).

Before this, the 900-point Kh-38 and the Roadrunner with a score that is far from its range and aftereffect were already a compromise, causing a significant gap in the CAS capabilities of other nations. After increasing the respawn points, I have to ask, is it reasonable for a guided bomb to cost more points than a missile? You have to break through the split and widespread AAA free air defense with no bombs, is this reasonable?

At the same time, BWD also increased the respawn points for laser and TV-guided air-to-ground missiles by 10%. You heard that right, even the US GBU-8, which doesn’t have a third mode, gets a 10% increase. So, our GBU-10 must be in for a wild ride (laugh).

Now, let’s talk about the consequences. The result of the increase is that the CAS capabilities of other nations, which were revitalized, will once again fall into the abyss. You have to throw bombs with a score higher than the Kh-38 (laugh). The final result is that ELB will once again dominate.

Many people will tell me, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” Players are not fools. Everyone can see what is strong and what is not. The result of a one-size-fits-all approach is that the value of other nations (don’t talk about China and Japan, the essence is the same as a strong Russia) becomes lower and lower. Players who can play other nations and Russian players playing house games also have their limits. What will be the result? Some will leave, and some will join. The number of Russian civil wars brought about by the strength of the BMPT is also obvious to all. People can lie, but the battle lines cannot. Is it more fun to have a full-scale civil war or to have a variety of nations flourishing? The answer is obvious. What you spit out will eventually have to be swallowed by yourself.

Finally, here are my suggestions:
[1] I hope the respawn points for IR bombs remain the same or increase by no more than 10%, and no changes are made to laser and TV-guided missiles.
[2] If Gaijin implements this change, I suggest that everyone reduce or stop playing top-tier vehicles, allowing everyone to survive. Giving others a piece of candy can make some people play house games. Now, not even a piece of candy is given. The result of a civil war is a positive feedback loop. Let’s wait and see.

If you agree with my views, please like and share to let more people see it. Thank you, thank you.

As far as I’m concerned, this change is mostly beneficial, because 12.7/13.0 CAS is still very powerful.

However a change I would like to see is the removal of all AAM SP costs, because it’s ridiculous how CAP costs 10x as much as an SPAA.

I don’t agree with your point of view. Currently, CAS is not strong. The huge amount of free AA has made CAS a very difficult thing, and only a few tech trees have powerful CAS aircraft. If this change is implemented, the weak CAS line will be even more difficult to survive. What is really needed now is to calculate the required respawn points based on the load and missile performance, rather than cutting across the board based on the guidance method.

For ground-to-air weapons with laser guidance above 11.3, they should be penalized rather than rewarded. Not to mention the low efficiency of laser-guided bombs under the effect of laser warning, just the continuous guidance alone is a fatal flaw. Unless all the AA of the opponent can be knocked out from a distance and you can fly freely in the combat area, laser-guided bombs are almost useless.

Damn rather use rocket pods than laser bombs.

protect us spice!

Top tier CAS aircraft are no longer “very powerful”, with only token exceptions mainly in the USSR tree. In fact, this has been the case since Leviathans, and has only become worse over time. Every nation currently has a top tier IR or ARH SPAA, at less than 1/10th the SP cost of CAS aircraft spawns.

Most importantly, every player is now provided with a free SPAA spawn. This includes the massive amount of top tier premium vehicle users, players who chose to neglect the SPAA research line, or players who don’t bring SPAA into their lineup (The sum of these is often the majority of players in a match). This absurd decision completely changed the balance in Ground RB, and now CAS is nearly never unopposed; additionally, it is now common to find 3-4 players of a team in SPAA.

Each player with a full stock of powerful missiles, most with multiple vehicles, all of which can be launched at once, and with a magical ammunition box which can be placed anywhere and replenishes the entire supply. Most top tier SPAA are similarly powerful, but the opposite is true for CAS: many nations completely lack a competitive top-tier aircraft altogether. Is this really a balanced playing field?

While I agree with this sentiment, to claim top tier CAS struggles is funny.
