One thing that has bugged me for a long while is the fact that the AN/APR-25 only picks up the E, G, and I bands.
Does anyone know the historical reasoning for this, considering the radars on soviet fighters mostly operate on the J band?
It was a crash program to refit existing airframes that were suddenly having to deal with the complexities of layered air defense for the first time in Vietnam, so all it did was provide a basic capability and get rushed to the front.
