why add the distinct seperate targeting pod for only the premium canadian and swiss hornet and not give it the one upgrade it got? that being IRST Search and track capability akin to that of other IRST systems like that of soviet aircraft?

No targeting pod currently has A2A IRST functionality. I guess its something they plan to add in future, but for now they cant even get external IRST pods to work (to the surprise of no-one)
