R60ms are not all aspect aim9bs not even close they pull 30gs and have longer range in the rear aspect.

12km away, at 5000m, at 1900km/h, that missile should have the energy to reach that F-14 like nothing, something that the R-24R has no problem with, once again

To be fair the missle had no energy and couldn’t pull but it shows that the stat card of 50km range is not true. The best range I have found for them to be at all effective is within 5km
Look at my speed, is way faster than any normal launch at much higher altitude, it should have hit, is just that the misile is that bad

Yeah maybe the the missile is supposed to burn longer as it only burns for like three and a half seconds. Is anyone able to figure out how long the missile should burn for as it may be intended to burn longer?

If that was me… As you arent actively defending. I would have led that shot more, it bled a lot of speed when it started pulling to the left and I would have also waited to fire until the target was within more like 10km, Just stack the cards truly in your favour.
What I am most confsued about that clip is the fact that the prox fuse didnt go off. I think… maybe… trying to remember what the prox fuse range was and I cant remember if the figure in my head is for m or ft :D

It forces you close quarter fights where jousting is regular thing.

I’ve jousted once in War Thunder, and it was in sim and this year.
Once, never jousted outside that one instance, and done BVR hundreds of times.
Also no one made claims from personal record.
I agree the maps are not set up for proper BVR engagements and by no means was the video a dumb test it just proves even more that the rb71 is not able to preform at any sort of a long distance.

Viggen D uses aim9 L/I1-s there are documents about sweden couldnt get hand on the 9ms from the us so they bought upgraded aim 9-Ls from germany

Exceptions are not contradictions, especially when the context is F-4J vs Yak-141.
An R-27ER is a bit different in that situation than Skyflash vs R-24R. I only launched cause I knew that I could slow down to 500kph after launch and get a hit on target.
Slowing down to 500kph in realistic battles is a death sentence.
Even description says its a dogfight missile.
There is no way in world that missile can reach similiar distance Aim-7M can.

Yeah no, my point was that at that alt + the speed that i launched should have pushed the missile much futher, and the F-14 just did a 40º left and 40º right, and that was enough to drain missile´s balls, while AlvisWisla was saying the R-24R is worse, but if that was a R-24R from a MiG-23 the F-14 would have died
idk how long it should, but in game it burns for 3 secs
