Dont forget, Sea HArrier FA2 at 13.0, 9/10 times, has no IR missiles at all. Only 4x AMRAAM and is sub-sonic
Couldn’t agree more. If gaijin is really worried about it just add a late variant. This vehicle carried it in real life and should in game.
There is no Late version of the D, there is only the C which can have a late model as the C near the end of its life received the D’s upgrades for BOL and aim 9L. The D was made with the purpose of carrying AIM 120 until the gripen was ready. The only other D would be the Di Otis which isn’t a substantial change between them.
Gaijin is gaijin. But if they don’t want to add a late variant for the sake of a BR difference, then they need to add this armament now. Its supposed to have it and very much should.
Id rather it be added when the BR’s are decompressed where it wont be 13.3 and effectively kill the D off as its at a decent BR right now. If they do that then i want my home countries F16A or Norways F16A as a gap filler between the C and the Gripen A.

Viggen D could be renamed Viggen C (late) and then a Viggen D added at 13.3. But it really wouldnt be that good.
Im really glad they didnt just move the F3 up to 13.3 and instead added the second, but stock grinding it is pretty brutal and its not that good. F3 is likely better than the Viggen D in quite a few respects.
The problem is none of the swedish aircraft actually have their respective arms, there isnt a single viggen with the correct name. Gaijin added the C as it had internal countermeasures. They didn’t even check if the A had a CM pod before adding it. And ect ect, literally gaijin hasn’t shown a single care for swedish aircraft, its no wonder the gripens are such a mess

If J-8F was given its PL-12s i dont see why Ja-37D cant get its AIM-120.
No, actually, their F/A-18C’s were strictly A-A weaponry, and has been until now.
Until now like in the past year? Theyve been able to carry CAS since the arms treaty with russia finally expired iirc. They’ve had munitions since 2015 iirc. Which when the MLU 2 was done, specifically with the role to add CAS back to them

The way i read your statement was that they started doing new changes to add CAS ability. It didnt make sense to me since theyve had CAS since 2015, i am not aware of any new additions or changes since then.
They 100% need to give the ja37d its rb99s it is so bad at 12.0 only because of its current loadout. The plane has a loadout similar to planes at 11.3 such as the mig23 yet it sits at 12.0 because of the CM count. The 9ls should be on the c as it was able to carry them and will take the place of the ja-37d for people who like how the Ja37d plays now. The viggens radar is really good but doesn’t get to use it to its full extent due to the horrible skyflash missles it has that just will randomly explode for no reason and have zero range at all. The viggen will perform well at 13.0 because it has a good engine that can out run some aircraft at 13.0, has good CM count, and a decent enough rwr and a really good radar. The viggen will 100% not be the best plane at the br but will still be very competitive if played correctly.
Ja37c is amazing and giving it 9ls would get it moved up in brs, while it only has 48CM, ja37c is amazing overall but ja37d needs rb71 because the rb71 is so bad and gets outperformed by a freaking aim9l in burn time

I don’t see any reason the JA37D needs AIM-120, everyone claims Viggen is so great all the time and now suddenly it’s not?
Ja37C is great, it has enough CM snd missiles are good for 11.3, however JA37D is an upgraded version of ja37c
Which has way more counter measures, has aim9l and irl rb99s, the problem with the ja37d is its the br where it is, in its br you face aim7ms, aim7fs, r27ers, 530Ds and loads of other good SARH missiles, now viggen is a really heavy plane, doesnt gain speed very well and loses all of its energy in one turn. JA37D has no chances of winning anything in bvr engagements because its only SARH missile is Rb71 (DF) which is basically a Skyflash, skyflashes and rb71s are really bad missiles at 12.0, having a really slow speed and short burn time they are only usable in 2-5km headons, and yet they have a high chance of just failing. JA37D can face planes such as mig29s (G) which have the best SARH and ir missiles in game (r27er and r73), av8b+ which already has an f18s radar, 4 aim120 and 2 9ms, f14s, f16As and shit ton of other planes that will annihilate ja37d
