Nope, not that one, that was new on me.
Also if their so different airframes why would USN waste time and money in testing it in the f14A airframe if they never planned on adding AMRAAMs to the f14A/B since they lack the technology capability to do so
Well that’s should be pretty obvious the Airframes are the same
But ig that’s just to hard to fathom
And you know that’s a “D” how? because while it’s a really low quality pic the engine nozzles look like the As’ engine nozzles notice the step down curve? that’s only on the A.

Digital ENGINE MANAGMENT, they have different radars regardless so that’s not even worth discussing… but since you mentioned it, what do you thing the 3 stage upgrade referring to “tapes” was referring to?
Dam dude you really should go back and re read as this argument is simply gonna go in circles but what do you think it’s mean to have a apg71,milstd1553,the fact that it’s in the f14D sms manual, or even the fact that the f14D is a upgraded made to make it 21st century capable, and the fact it says to add the rest of the amraam capabilities
But it’s not like the f102A witch is a service vehicle witch got aim-4 F/G or aircraft with kh38mt even though theirs no proof if they got the full capability to use them or if it’s even in their software than their prototype vehicles
Do you actually read what you link in your posts?

It’s all “it will if we do it”
TAPES actual hard copy cassettes of coding that need to be physically installed over a multi year program, only the 3rd of which would allow AIM-120 integration. NONE OF WHICH HAPPENED.
Wow dude the facts are still going over you’re head like f14D had amraam capabilities even before the pdu if not for the software update or even the fact that’s it’s in the f14D manual but hey I’m not here to convince you any way
Facts is both NF-14A-gr that tested AMRAAMs should be considered for the f14D to get AMRAAMs as experimental basis and the fact that the f14D has planned integration/technical capability and that’s it’s in the f14D manual and people are interested it in
it NEVER had AIM-120 capabilities, but I can see you are WAY off the deep end on this topic, so I will just wish you well on you quest to find the tooth fairy.
Sure buddy hopefully you can find logic on your way out
Sure I’ll pick up the one you left at the door on the way in. GLHF!
Says the one who ignore the facts lol
Theres one.
But that specific what i was referring, was from Grumman World magazine, from november 13, 1987
And you allready actually had placed screenshot of that before :D missed that message before , while I was on phone.

well there was only 1 F14D , what tested those AIM 120’s.
And it was on Bureaunumber 158625 , you can look up everything you find on that “chassis” number of F14D.
But still, my opinion is simple, it should not get those missiles, unless they make completely different variant ( event ) for it, since it truly was tested on F14D, but like stated befote why it was never went to actual use on F14’s , so it would not make sence that TT or Prem version gets those

That was an F-14A:
F-14A-65-GR Tomcat/Bu. 158625
Delivered to U.S. Navy
- Assigned to Pacific Missile Test Center.

F-14A-65-GR Tomcat/Bu. 158625) from the Pacific Missile Test Center at NAS Point Mugu, CA,
in flight before launching an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile on September 23, 1981.

Yeah A model, but having D models radar etc, so it can actually launch amraams, since A doesnt have electronics for it. But anyway, it was used as testbed for “D” models AMRAAM application.
And it still doesnt change my opinion that F14’S should not get 120’s.
Since it was never truly adopted in use.
A uniquely modified test bed aircraft, with no evidence it could do more then carry and fire them, no proof it could actually guide them. 1 F-14A being physically capable of flying with and shooting ONE AIM-120.
The D models radar couldn’t support AIM-120s, that was a proposed 3 stage upgrade program that was never adopted due to the cost… as CLEARLY stated in the many documents Knackers here has posted.
I agree, but I maintain that there is ZERO evidence that any F-14 could have an AIM-120 hooked up, take off and shoot it with out at least a minimum 2 year upgrade program, as knuckleheads own documents clearly state.
I’ve understanded that apg 71 was cabable of supporting 120’s since it was made using apg 70 as base what Was allready in use in f15’s
If not you can place us source for it not supporting amraams
