American T34 heavy tank

Wasn’t the initial specification laid out with OCM 25117 suggesting a heavy tank having an effective frontal armor thickness of 9 inches (228,6 mm) for the hull front and turret front?

The hull armor already offers basis armor equivalency of 228,6mm, which was the requirement. While the gun shield is correctly at 8 inches, it doesn’t match with the required 228,6mm of basis armor requirement on the frontal projection, unless you take the 25,4mm spall shield into account which fits perfectly.

Idk, I’ve never seen that document.

I’ve seen pictures of the T29 tanks and their mantled sure doesn’t look like 203mm thick.

This is how i define these people

Measured by “The Chieftain” himself.

where do you even get that???

This wonderful thing called…

“The Internet”.

Thanks wise guy

Also what is the official amount of armor. Most sites like tank encyclopedia says its mantlet is 203- 305mm thick.

305 mm is around the edges, like how it is in game.

more than powerful enough? That thing is sad af. even a sherman firefly can pen its turret as long as you don’t hit the block in the center that noobs always aim for.

It is 203mm but closer it gets to the gun, thicker it gets and tops at 254mm, you can measure the mantlet using it’s drawing which seems to portray its armor thickness accurately.

They can increase the mantlet protection by modelling it as volumetric with the missing trunnion supports. The trunnion supports are already modelled, it’s just that they’re not part of the damage model.

So its armor is unreliable?

It’s pretty easy to take out even with 4.7s, so yeah.

Yes unfortunately

If you are close to it. at any reasonable distance the weakspots aren’t easy to hit. I am easily able to tank several rounds when I get downtiers, as long as you hide the hull its nearly unstoppable to most of the tanks you will be seeing.

I’ve never had issues killing it with 17 pdr, even at long distances.

apds? because if so then that’s more explainable. killing a t34 from the front, with solid AP id image would be hard. I personally need a gun with at around 200mm to kill a t34 reliably from the front. once u reach 220mm the armour I can agree becomes easy to deal with, just shoot the massive mount.

I guess you have to hope if a German main nobbie sees this massive tank coming towards him, he’ll panic and shoots at the wrong spot.

no, just the normal Mk.8 on the firefly.
