It’s unlikely, Sniper (XR) ATP was around the same time Litening AT models were made, which were 512x512 arrays for the FLIR. From early footage of Sniper it is also clear it’s not gen 3. Only really nearing 2010 and over were we seeing 1k FLIR being integrated and used. Maybe there were upgrades to Sniper in terms of FLIR resolution before the ATP-SE project, but I think that’s when we also first saw 1k FLIR for the Litening.
Anyways, biggest buff Gaijin can give TGPs really is by adding sight stabilization that keeps the image horizontal while also refining the gimbal limits, current limits make the camera behave weird near the edge of the gimbal limits, apparently it’s a game limitation as of now.
I know i was just replying to his comment that when USA does get the Hornet , it will be gimped compared to what other nations like germany and sweden get
right sorry
Germany gets EF Typhoon, Sweden gets JAS39E with Meteor at the end
I just wanted to tell’em that Couldn’t be the reason US gets worse version of each aircrafts bc of balancing like F100-PW-22X
Right but do you have a source that they all stayed unupgraded? because we know when they started receiving the upgrades but we only know of a couple that are not upgraded at the timeline of these aircraft we have in game. 50/50 I have a very hard time believing. It is common for the first batch or so to have slightly different things about it because once the combat pilots get their hands on it, feedback starts rolling in and changes start to be made, this is true of many different aircraft but the F15 is probably the most famous example of this just due to how easy they are to swap things out for. hence why many are in various stages of receiving EX style features as well.
Regardless of whether it is 50/50 or if it is more like 70/30 like what I was thinking when I made that first post, my argument doesn’t stand in a vacuum here. It’s not so much the fact that they gave it a weaker engine that they could have given it all on its own. If they were only adding F-15E this update I’m sure many wouldn’t bat an eye. But that is not what is happening, were also receiving the F-15I the same update, with its better engines installed.
It is the fact that this was confirmed to be an artificial nerf by Gaijin for the purposes of making US mains grind more aircraft to get a mix of air to air and air to ground capability within that tree. According to their statement in the dev streams, they would have given the E model the 229 engine but didnt to “give players a reason to grind for the other Eagles.” The best case scenario for Gaijin here is that we think that this nerf was ‘just because they felt like it’ which of course is way better than the actual reason it got the 220 engine, which is such:
It uses the same engines but a heavier airframe than the C variant, meaning you might as well use the C for air RB for flight performance reasons. If someone wants to have both good CAS capability and good air to air, they will need to grind 2 lines of top tier aircraft to get it. The more people have to grind in war thunder, the more they spend on premium time and the more gaijin makes money. The point is, Gaijin already knows this decision doesnt have historical or balancing ground to stand on with this decision, or they would have given us a better reason right there in the dev stream. No, the decision was probably entirely made in order to waste more of America mains time because that is their business model. I find that highly distasteful which is the entire reason I will sit here for 20 minutes writing responses to posts in the forum about it, I am quite miffed that the only consideration that Gaijin has for the performance of some of the most historically important aircraft of modern conflicts is how much money they can bleed us for.
Now I’m sure that Gaijin will come out later if this decision stays and they will say something like “this is a historical decision and also it will be balanced,” because the people in the dev stream accidentally came out and gave us the real reason, which is why the decision was made, so now they will have to cover it up with an excuse invented after the fact once word travels around.
I don’t expect them to fix this decision because of the money involved for them, but I am hoping and praying they do.
Are this guy asking for evidences of all US F-15E’s are upgraded engine to 229?
Sorry that I using bad english bc its my second language but i have no idea why are you asking his links of all his sources are from
is it related with what he said?
i think that the best solution for this is: give to the american F-15E the PW-229 and for the Ra´am his missing ground ordinance AGM-142 Popeye (x2) and the Spice 1000/2000 (x4), Spice-250 quad rack instead of the GBU-39, this would make both planes a sidegrade of each other, gaijin needs to stop denying israeli ground ordinance at this point is just dumb to not have them in game and in the israeli jets. this is the best decision right now and also the one that would make everyone happy with their respective F-15s. @Smin1080p_WT sorry to ping you but this should be taken into consideration.
Looking more into it, perhaps Sniper did have 1k FLIR, as is EOTS on the F-35 (basically built-in Sniper XR). Anyways, I believe Litening AT’s 640x512 (or referred to with 512x512 in other sources, probably due to square MFD limitations) is also listed as “HD” and “gen 3”, which are all marketing terms really so that alone is not conclusive. But I think my confusion about Sniper resolution probably comes from MFDs. Older aircraft with Sniper will only have degraded output because the MFDs are lower resolution than the pod, whereas on newer aircraft that may not be the case (this is sorta modelled in-game too, same pods can have different resolution in-game).
Anyways given that, Sniper on the A-10 would not be very OP then. A-10’s MFCDs are only 600x600 resolution. Which would only qualify as gen 2 in-game (800x600) like Litening II already is.
Spoiler
On the F-15E this may be a different story as that one got a lot more upgrades over its lifetime that I know of. Depending on from what year, the displays may be actually able to support the gen 3 FLIR fully.
So do we know if the F-15E is getting access the AN/ALE-58 (LAU-138 / BOL rails), or just the ventral dispenser group of AN/ALE-40 / -45 (MJU-12 Chaff / Flare Magazine)?
